XP clients. First I change the domain of the XP client from NT 4.0 to Windows 2003 AD and restart the machine as a member of the error 50 dism new domain. Then I try to change the local profile of an olddomain
Dism Error 50 Windows 10
user to newdomain user remotely using moveuser command. I run moveuser on a Windows 2003 DC. NT 4.0 and 2003 domains error 87 dism netfx3 have two way trust relationship. I get the following error which is error 87, parameter is incorrect. I'm using the moveuser tool that I've got from the Windows 2003 Resource Kit Tools. The XP http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/error-87-running-dism-online-cleanup-image/33be783f-6e3f-408b-9d0c-901cd19c14ea client has SP2 installed. I turned off firewall for troubleshooting and nothing changed. From the Windows 2003 DC, it's possible to reach the XP client's C$. Also I've made the Windows 2003 administrator user a member of the Windows NT 4.0 domain administrators group. What might be the reason for this problem? I'll be happy to provide any additional problem you would need. Error 87 The parameter is incorrect. Yaman, Sep 30, 2005 #1 Advertisements Vincent Xu [MSFT] Guest Hi I have following suggestions: 1. we need to check the following security options: Network access: Allow anonymous SID/Name translation Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users Network access: Named pipes can be accessed anonymously Network access: Restrict anonymous access to Named Pipes and shares Network access: Shares that can be accessed anonymously 2. MOVEUSER must run on the RID MASTER FSMO in the source domain and the DC in the target domain must be the RID Master too. 3. I suggest you use ADMT to achieve this goal. ADMT - the Active Directory Migration tool, has the ability to "translate" account security information. The following link has addressed the details: Remigrating User Accounts and Workstations in Batches

The command line I'm using is: netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:99898/ user=ben The error that I see is: Url reservation add failed, Error: 87 The parameter is incorrect. There is a local user account named 'ben' that has admin privileges. I've made sure to put a trailing slash after the port number in the URL. Google and MSDN documentation are letting me down now - does anyone have any clue what I'm doing error 87 dism incorrectly? windows-server-2008 http netsh share|improve this question asked Jun 22 '11 at 23:51 Ben 183117 Did this question make anybody think of TV crime shows with "IP addresses" like "10.68.342.12" in them? >smile< –Evan Anderson Jun 23 '11 at 3:40 I'll take my lumps here... =) –Ben Jun 23 '11 at 4:44 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted Port number "99898" isn't a valid TCP port number. TCP port numbers are 16-bit unsigned integers, so they can't exceed 65535. I would strongly suspect that this invalid port number is the reason for the error you're seeing. share|improve this answer answered Jun 23 '11 at 0:14 Evan Anderson 127k12145287 That's it - I tried with a 4-digit port number earlier, but must have gotten a different error. Thanks! –Ben Jun 23 '11 at 0:21 add a comment| up vote 24 down vote I had the same error; in my case, the mistake I was making was omitting the trailing slash from the URL: C:\>netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8085 user=DOMAIN\myname Url reservation add failed, Error: 87 The parameter is incorrect. C:\>netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8085/ user=DOMAIN\myname URL reservation successfully added share|improve this answer answered Feb 19 '13 at 22:29 Adam V 34147 And in my case, I had omitted the url= and user=, which the documentation says are optional, but are apparently not. –Camer
