Net View Error 87

recently replaced with a new machine. The name of the new machine is the same as that of the old, and the names of the shares in it are also the same. Since the upgrade my Vista machine is unable to access the shares and gives me this error: "The parameter is incorrect". This occurrs when trying to open mapped drives as well as trying to access the server's root UNC path. After seeing this error I tried the "net view" command from DOS and got this: C:\>net view \\x6 System error 87 has occurred. The parameter is incorrect. I've found a way to temporarily fix the problem, but after I reboot my Vista box it happens again and I need to apply the fix again. The fix is to use http://www.chicagotech.net/netforums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2922 "net use" like this: C:\>net use \\x6\software /user:xxx\username The command completed successfully. Note that if I use my actual domain name this command fails, but if I put in an invalid one (like "xxx") then it succeeds. Yes, I know that's very strange. I was lucky to find this by mistyping my domain name once and was surprised that the command then worked. After issuing this command I can access the file server just fine and my mapped network drives work fine as well. So, http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/problem-accessing-network-shares.3383117/ does anyone know how I can fix this permanently? Windows 10 IT Pro > Windows 10 Networking Question 1 Sign in to vote Yesterday, I upgraded my Windows 7 Pro system to Windows 10 Pro. For the most part, things are working except that error 87 the system can no longer see all the domain computer in File Explorer > Network. My account is a domain admin. Under Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings > Domain, I have turned network discovery back on and File and Printer sharing was still on. Netbios over TCP/IP net view error is on. Most concerning is that the Windows 2008 R2 servers do not show up. Also, when I open an elevated command prompt and try to use New View, I get this: C:\>net view System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found. C:\> Newark IT Guy... If it's possible, please remove the computer from the domain and then re-join the domain for test. Since from your error message, it seems that your Windows 10 didn't connect to domain. Please ping the Server with IP or computer name to see if it could ping. Meanwhile, make sure theComputer Browser Service running fine: 1.
