As I did, I mentioned that to run Check Disk in full repair mode, you select both the Automatically Fix File System Errors check box and the Scan For And Attempt Recovery Of Bad Sectors check box, as shown in Figure A, and click Start. Since that blog post ran, I've heard from several readers who have attempted to run Check Disk in full repair mode but have discovered that Check Disk fails to run at startup. I've also heard from several readers who have run Check Disk in full repair mode and have discovered that after doing so, Check Disk runs at every startup. Fortunately, there are ways to work around both of these issues. In this edition of the Windows Vista Report, I'll show you what to do when Check Disks malfunctions in Vista. Windows Vista's Error Checking program scans and evaluate each of these sectors to ensure that they're all working properly. If there are unrecoverable sectors that can't be fixed by using this utility, they will be flagged so that Windows doesn't attempt to access them anymore. Choose Start→Computer. Right-click the drive you want to check and then choose Properties. In the resulting Properties dialog box, select the Tools tab and then click the Check Now button. If you have User Account Control activated on your system, you'll see a message box asking you to confirm you choice. Just click Continue to proceed. As the title say. Having big problems getting updates. First the "Checking for updates" was stuck. then I get error code 80080005 and then 80070422. When I click check for updates, the harddisc runs for a white and then goes dead. doesn't update anything and the "Checking for updates" is stuck forever. I have Windows Vista 32 bit. SP 2.
