Solved Error connecting to authd on host Posted on 2010-03-11 VMware Virtualization 2 Verified Solutions 10 Comments 1,615 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-09 We have Virtual Center 2.5 installed on a server. When trying to connect to the console for a virtual machine through the VMWare Infrastructure Client (From the Vcenter server), we get the error: Error connecting to authd on host. We get the same error when going through a webbrowser to the Virtual Center server, or directly to the ESX hosts. However it works just fine if we connect from another workstation to the Virtual Center server. I've researched and tried about everything to fix this but without luck. The VCenter server and the workstation on which it works fine are running the same version of VIC. Your help would be very much appreciated. 0 Question by:gimosuby Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 3 Best Solution bygimosuby Okay, here we go... I am getting the error connecting to authd on host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in the VI client window. Until recently I have been able to connect through the VI Client https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/25346866/Error-connecting-to-authd-on-host.html andweb ui. Nothing on the ESX server has been changed or updated. I have tried different laptops to connect through the client andweb interface. I get mixed results. Some of the laptops were able toconnect through the client and web ui and others get the same authderror. This leads me to believe that something on the laptop(s)(Microsoft) arecausing my issue. All of the laptops https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/231216b1-0fa8-41ff-b24f-aba1ac13f45a/vmware-infrastructure-client-error-on-windows-xp-professional-error-connecting-to-authd-on-host?forum=itproxpsp are using Windows XP SP2, IE 8,.net 3.5 sp1. I have tried to find dll's that are different in version#, but nothing has surfaced. Has anyone had problems with certain Microsoft fixpacks or other updates or versions of Microsoft software that caused their vmware client to stop functioning correctly. Thanks for any help!!
