I can connect to the machine's SQL Server Express database via the MACHINENAME/SQLEXPRESS. However when we come to connecting through any software or script using an IP Address it won't allow the connection. I have tried: Turning off the Firewall. Allowing Remote Connections for the SQL Database. Enabling TCP/IP within the SQL Configuration. When we attempt to connect via the software 'SQL Server Management Studio', we get the following message: Error Message: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. What firewall do you mean, the one on local or remote side? Also note that some local firewalls can block connection based on https://winscp.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3124 application, not only port._________________Martin Prikryl stamfordblue [View user's profile] Joined: 2006-04-19 Posts: 1 Posted: 2006-04-19 23:17 [Reply with quote] I get the same error. I'm making SSH connections to it from my PC via Putty. The problem is, sometimes I'm able to login seamlessly. However, error connecting via sometimes it gives me an error like this: Network error: Connection refused. Then, I dont't change anything, try to login a few times more, wait a while and try again. Sometimes I can log in, sometimes I cannot. It seems pretty random to me. What can I do to solve this? Edit: And Sometimes, Putty gives Network error: Software caused connection abort error after displaying login as: text.
