Re: VMX connection handshake failed for mks of /vmfs/volumes/4bad.../MyTest/MyTest.vmx gpeppa Mar 27, 2010 7:18 PM (in response to Troy Clavell) I use a template to deploy the virtual machine. Now i use a template of Windows 2003 R2 32 bits with the sames results I am so confuse, it can be a storage problem? becuase I use a differents templates in the same datastore and i have the same errors. These templates I have been using in another environment and I have not had any problems before.I think that maybe using the comand to restart the services can be useful Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions 3. nothing appears except a message “Unable to connect to the MKS: VMX connection handshake failed for the mks of… ”. Google, found this interesting blog post and also VMware KB 1002001,”Powering on a virtual machine or accessing the console fails with a handshake error”. The VM is also reported as non responsive by the end users. So it is decided to reboot this Windows VM. While conducting a Power Off using the vSphere Client, the action stopped on 95%. After a few minutes waiting, there is only one solution imho, that https://communities.vmware.com/thread/261686?start=0&tstart=0 is following VMware KB 1004340 “Powering off a virtual machine (on a ESX host)”. Follow KB 1014165 if it is an ESXi host. In this case, I succeeded at this step under section “Using the ESX command line to kill the virtual machine”: # ps auxwww |grep -i

Add the ESX server in your DNS 2. Edit your hostfile on the workstation (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts\) and add your ESX server After adding the ESX by DNS in my hostfile error connecting and restarted the VI Client I was able to open Console screen.
