Would prefer to not have to do that again. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2065135 My best guess is the HDDs are overtaxed and can't service the VM. I have two WD Green 2TB drives configured as a single data store that are connected directly to the MB. Also have 2 or 3 server OSs on an SSD. I've tried powering off the VM but it is stuck at 95%. In the past hard http://www.techexams.net/forums/virtualization/98662-unable-connect-mks-error-connecting-bin-vmx-process.html resetting the host has resolved the issue but I dont view this as an acceptable solution would like to determine the root cause so as to remedy it rather than bandaid it. Not educated on which logs to look at.Online resources haven't been super helpful. I've also heard the Green drives can be problematic. Any advice? Screenshot:Capture.jpg Sorry if it's too small. I suppose if I can't resolve the problem I'll chalk it up to a storage error and shell out for this Whitebox SAN Quote Login/register to remove this advertisement. tomtom1 Senior Member Join Date Feb 2014 Posts 374 Certifications JNCIP,SP, JNCIS-SP, CCNP, VCAP5-DCA, VCP5, MCITP 2008 SA, CCNA 03-13-201407:18 PM #2 You could kill the VMX process: VMware KB: Powering off an unresponsive virtual machine on an ESX host Quote tstrip007 Senior Member Join Date May 2013 Location Birmingham, AL Posts 279 Certifications VCP5-DCV 03-14-201401:50 AM #3 Don't know what version ESXi you have installed but have you tried the suggested patch? It seems to hang at the point that it starts to load the OS and is "Applying computer settings...". It then freezes for a few minutes and then finally completes the boot process. If I close the console window and try to open it again, I get the error "Unable to connect to the MKS: Error connecting to /bin/vmx process". 0 LVL 3 Overall: Level 3 VMware 1 Virtualization 1 Message Expert Comment by:shnelsonx2012-08-06 This type of issue can surface when DNS isn't configured properly or is misbehaving. Have you validated these settings within vSphere, ensuring all FQDNs are resolvable? Is this happening against one VM? Another solution may be to reinstall VMware tools. You can right click the VM, select Guest -> Install/Upgrade VMware Tools. It is important to do this while not attempting to view the console, this will allow it to automatically deploy and reboot the machine without interaction. 0 Message Author Comment by:MH-Administrator2012-08-08 I've uninstalled VMWare tools from th
