Is this due to one of the following reasons? Insufficient memory. RMI calls getting failed due to increased number of requests to the server causing one of them to wait and causing time outs for this request to process. Incompatible jre version or anything related to JRE version. Any networking related issue. error during jrmp connection establishment read timed out Firewall related. java rmi share|improve this question edited Mar 15 '14 at 12:09 Taher Khorshidi 3,33811238 asked Jan 15 '13 at 6:21 Sidd 58226 Maybe yes. Try to eliminate some of them by making experiments. –Henry Jan 15 '13 at 6:25 Which one of the above options best relates to the cause of exception?Any idea on this? –Sidd Jan 15 '13 at 6:32 Hard to say without more information. Do you always get this error or does it sometimes work? Can you ping the remote machine? –Henry Jan 15 '13 at 6:36 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Insufficient memory. Not at the client. Possibly at the server, if it causes a failure to allocate a thread for example. RMI calls getting failed due to increased number of requests to the server causing one of them to wait and causing time outs for this request to process. No. The error occurs during the connection establishment phase, long before the server-side method implementation gets invoked. incompatible jre version or anything related to JRE version. No. Any networking related issue. Yes. Firewall related. No. That would cause a connect timeout, or in certain obsolete cases a connection refusal, not a read timeout. share|improve this answer edited Jan 20 '15 at 0:27 answered Jan 15 '13 at 7:19

I would like to ask regarding this error. java.rmi.ConnectIOException: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14332154/error-with-jrmp-connection-establishment error during JRMP connection establishment This error occured when Naming.lookup() method tries to look into the RMI registry. The case is that RMI will be used to invoke methods on an EJB. The setup is: 1. EJBs are deployed in a Websphere server (WAS). 2. All servers will be on my local machine, so is the RMI Registry. Do I still need https://community.oracle.com/thread/1178615?start=0 additional setup for WAS regarding the use of RMI Registry? Thanks! By the way, my WAS is using Java 1.5. I need to use RMI feature since the application (business logic, hibernate transaction beans etc) will be deployed in WAS 5.1 and will be accessed by RMI from outside client application. I'm using Spring and Hibernate for this application. I created the war, deployed in WAS 5.1. But when I tried to access it though rmi, I get the following error (java.rmi.ConnectIOException: error during JRMP connection establishment, java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out ... etc): [Note: We can't upgrade to WAS version at this time because this is our client side environment/requirements] Here is the Error Details: ================== Exception in thread "main" org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationExce ption: Error creating bean with name 'mProductSearchServiceProxyClient' defined in file [C:\WorkSpaceJ4\TestRMI\src\resources\service-rmiproxy.xml]: Cannot resolve reference to bean 'mProductSearchServiceProxy' while setting bean property 'productSearchService'; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationExce ption: Error creating bean with name 'mProductSearchServiceProxy' defined in file [C:\WorkSpaceJ4\TestRMI\src\resources\service-rmiproxy.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is org.springfram
