Everytime I try to restore a backup, whether through ROM magr http://askubuntu.com/questions/377253/unable-to-format-usb-drive-with-disks-udisks-error-quark-0 or just booting into recovery I get an error message. It says "error while formatting /system!" Any thoughts? I have even tried wiping everything before restoring backup and still no luck...Thanks in advance for any help! error formatting Edited by graveyard76, 02 September 2011 - 11:32 AM. 0 Likes SG3 Stock for now!Moto Xoom-StockSamsung Tab 2 7.0 Stock for now! A few things to troubleshoot: What version of ClockworkMod Recovery are you using? Can you go into the Mounts menu, and error formatting disk format system (make sure to backup first!) without any issues? After you get the error, hit the "Report problem" item in the advanced menu of ClockworkMod Recovery, then when you boot into Android copy the contents of /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log to a pastebin, and paste the link. 1 Likes Back to top OP TiffG TiffG Supporting Member 86 posts Twitter Google+ Posted 01 September 2011 - 05:46 AM #3 I was using Clockwork Mod 4.0.1.5, but now I see that I just received the upday to 5.0.1.0. The next time it happens I will try and get the error message. I'm not sure though, what a pastebin is. And I have never tried the format system choice within the Mounts menu. I will give it a try... **nevermind on pastebin...I just googled it...lol** Edited by graveyard76, 01 September 2011 - 05:53 AM. 0 Likes SG3 Stock for now!Moto Xoom-StockSamsung Tab 2 7.0 Stock for now! Something gparted doesnt do as far as I can tell. This bug is causing features to be missing. –user295470 Jun 20 '14 at 22:16 Probably you cannot still use the startup disk. It doesn't sound like it was made properly. I had similar issues. But you can try this work around and see if it works. Install Gparted if you don't have it installed. If its not, just press Ctrl+Alt+T on your keyboard to open Terminal. When it opens, run the command(s) below: sudo apt-get install gparted Once installed, open the application, and before formatting, make sure that you choose the right drive, and Unmount the disk by right clicking on the partition, and choose Unmount, then you can use the format To o
