I've uninstalled, restarted, and then reinstalled using manual installation https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24446209/DPM-Agent-Installation-Data-Protection-Manager-Error-ID-270.html and the attaching manually on the DPM server. The server adds but then for the Agent status it displays an error. I've tried all the suggestions in the error code's recommended actions. Also added the DPM server to the Local Security, User Right Assignment, ..Access From Network... Protection agent version: 2.0.8793.0 Error: Data Protection Manager Error ID: 270 The agent operation failed on dc1.grmerc.net because DPM could not communicate with the DPM protection agent. The computer may be protected by another DPM server, or the protection agent may have been uninstalled on the protected computer. Recommended action: Check the following to troubleshoot this issue: 1)If the agent is no longer installed on the computer, remove the protected data sources on this computer from active protection. Then, remove the entry of this computer from the Agents tab in the Management task area. 2)If the agent is not installed on dc1.grmerc.net, run DpmAgentInstaller.exe with this DPM computer as a parameter. I could fix this error by installing manually by following the steps, Shared the path, C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\DPM\Protection\RA\4.0.xxxx and made to access from \\dpm-server\DPMAgent$\ Installed the agents manually from command prompt Copied to the local disk from the above path to the servers. Opened Command Prompt (I used run as Administrator), install the agent manually by running as below c:\Downloads\amd64\DPMAgenInstaller_x64 dpm-server.domain.local ; where dpm-server.domain.local is my DPM server. I get this error in DPM: Data Protection Manager Error ID: 270 The agent operation failed on server.localbecause DPM could not communicate with the DPM protection agent. The computer may be protected by another DPM server, or the protection agent may have been uninstalled on the protected computer. If server.local is a workgroup server, the password for the DPM user account could have been changed or may have expired. And this error on the server that is being backed up: DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer server.domain.local using any of the configured protocols. Help!!!
