Dpm 2012 R2 Error 270
DPM 2010 Protection agent version: 3.0.7696.0 Error: Data Protection Manager Error ID: 270 The agent operation failed on rushcrm02.rush-enterprises.com because DPM could not communicate with the DPM protection agent. The computer may be protected by another DPM server, or the protection agent may have setdpmserver tool been uninstalled on the protected computer. If rushcrm02.rush-enterprises.com is a workgroup server, the password for the DPM user account could have been changed or may have expired. Recommended action: Check the following to troubleshoot this issue: 1) If the agent is not installed on rushcrm02.rush-enterprises.com, run DpmAgentInstaller.exe with this DPM computer as a parameter. For details, see the DPM Deployment Guide. 2) To attach the computer correctly to this DPM server, run the SetDpmServer tool on the protected computer. 3) If the computer is protected by another DPM server, or if the protection agent has been uninstalled, remove the protected data sources on this computer from active protection. Then, remove the entry of this computer from the Agents tab in the Management task area. 4) If rushcrm02.rush-enterprises.com is a workgroup server, run SetD
Arnar StangelandJune 2, 20090 0 0 0 When the DPM agent is installed on a machine that is to be protected by DPM, the admin doing the install specifies credentials that will be used for the initial installation. After the installation phase has completed however,
Access This Computer From The Network
the DPM Agent services on the target machine to be protected will start up in the security context of their machine account and attempt to report back to the DPM server. During that time the GUI console on the DPM server will be sitting and waiting for the target machine to report back in.IF the target machine never reports back in to the DPM server, the error eventually logged on the DPM server is: Error: Data Protection Manager https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/e6da8acb-90d5-4303-b7c1-2583342c71c8/dpm-2010-error-270?forum=dpmsetup Error ID: 270 For these operations to succeed, the following needs to be in place: a) The user account that is specified during the agent installation must have permissions to install the service on the target machine. This is usually straight-forward to analyze as the agent will simply fail to install if you don’t have the required admin permissions on the target machine. b) The DPM server must have the ‘Access this computer from the Network’ user right https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/instan/2009/06/02/installing-dpm-agent-on-target-server-fails/ on the target machine If this user right is missing the DPM server will not be able to initiate communication with the target machine c) The target machine must have the ‘Access this computer from the Network’ user right on the DPM server. If this user right is missing the DPM agent will not be able to report in to the DPM server. By default the Authenticated Users security group has the ‘Access this computer from the Network’ (NetworkLogonRight) user right on all machines in the domain, if this is removed the admin needs to make sure that this User Right is granted through another group (the Domain Computers group for example). Adding only the Domain Users group instead of Authenticated Users is not sufficient as the computer accounts in the domain are not a member of it. d) The target server and DPM machine must have unique SPN’s (Service Principal Names) registered. HOST\targetserver.domain.com on the target server computer account and HOST\dpmserver.domain.com on the DPM server computer account (FQDNS HOST SPN's are registered by default on all computer accounts when they are created as well as the NetBIOS SPN for). You can verify the SPN’s are in place by running the Setspn command (setspn –l
repost from : scug.dk I ran into a issue deploying Data Protection Manager 2010 RC for a customer. Where the agent installation failed with Error ID 270 but completed on one machine. Agent install was default install , so no preinstall http://flemmingriis.com/data-protection-manager-error-id-270/ agents And started fine and completed without errors But the agent communication from the client to the DPM server didn't work , verified install account had permission on remote host and everything was up and running On the agent machine the only hints at a error was the system event log The server {C4EBD674-1457-4B79-BE30-B04735AED9D1} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. DPMRACurr didn't give any hints to a reason of why the agent error id is unable to communicate with the DPM server. On the Data Protection Manager server i got the following error when the agents tries to talk home DCOM got error "2148007941" from the computer xSP01.demo.local when attempting to activate the server: {C4EBD674-1457-4B79-BE30-B04735AED9D1 After some digging around for clue the error was only visible on 2008 server but not on the clean install i did for testing purpose , so after looking though the machines i dpm error id found out that the machine that failed had the same SID so the deployment job that installed the machine didn't run sysprep on completion. So always remember to sysprep your servers before deployment to fix the issue uninstall the agent , disjoin the server from the domain , and run newsid and join domain again.
