the file). You either do not have the access rights to read the file, or do not have access rights to create/overwrite the file. Network SecurityThis type of error commonly occurs when copying http://support.2brightsparks.com/knowledgebase/articles/210938-access-denied-error-message to a network share. On the computer that is sharing the folder over the network:- Run Windows File Explorer- Navigate to the folder you’re sharing- Right-click on the folder and select Sharing and Security... from the http://www.askvg.com/fix-some-file-and-folder-names-showing-in-blue-or-green-color-in-windows-explorer/ pop-up menu- Depending on how Windows XP is configured there are two different options:1) Tick the checkbox that says Allow network users to change my filesor2) Click on the Permissions button and make sure Full Control error in is tickedIf it still fails try removing the share and recreating it with Full Control / Allow network users to change my files. This will reset the file permissions.Note: it's likely that network access to files hosted on machines running later versions of Windows (by another networked machine running an earlier version of Windows) may be more problematic due to (more) restrictive security in the newer version of Windows, and/or security modes, checksum error in access tokens, etc., that differ between the two systems). Older versions of Windows are generally less restrictive in that respect, so you may have more success installing on the machine with the newer Windows version and accessing the older machine/version's files over the network. Such a setup may thus be able to access the files on both sides more easily.Encrypted Blocked Files If you download a file, e.g. using Internet Explorer, to an NTFS volume, then the file may be marked as blocked by Windows. You can see if a file is blocked by right-clicking on it and selecting Properties from the pop-up menu. At the bottom of the General tab it will say if the file is blocked or not (This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer). You can click the Unblock button to unblock the file. If a file is both NTFS encrypted, and blocked, then you cannot copy the file from a remote computer. You must either unblock it or unencrypt it. It is possible to configure Windows not to block downloaded files automatically:- Run gpedit.msc- Go to: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager- Enable: Do not preserve zone information in file attachmentsThis change will only take
reader: Hi VG Recently I noticed that some files and folders names are showing in blue and green color in Windows Explorer. It seems all files and folders names are turning into either blue or green color. I think my system is infected with a virus. Can you please provide a solution? Is it really a virus infection? Thanks. No. Its not a virus infection. Actually its a feature of NTFS file system in Windows. Windows automatically compresses a few files and folders to save space on your hard disk and when a file or folder gets compressed, Windows shows its name in blue color to make them easier to identify. Similarly an encrypted file or folder name is shown in green color. Take a look at following screenshot: In above screenshot, Test 1 and Test 3 folders are compressed whereas Test 2 folder is encrypted that's why Test 1 and Test 3 folders names are showing in blue color but Test 2 folder name is showing in green color. Same theory applies to Test 1.txt and Test 2.txt files. Test 1.txt file is neither encrypted nor compressed, that's why its name is showing in default black color but Test 2.txt file is compressed, that's why its name is showing in blue color. If you don't want to show compressed or encrypted file or folder names in different color, you can disable this feature using following simple steps: 1. Open Windows Explorer, click on Organize -> Folder and search options in command bar. Windows XP users will need to click on Tools -> Folder Options. 2. It'll open Folder Options window. Now go to "View" tab. 3. Now look for an option "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color". It would be enabled by default. You just need to disable that option by unchecking the chechbox and applying the changes. 4. That's it. Now Windows will not show compressed or encrypted files or folders names in blue or green color. If you don't want to disable the above mentioned option, but want to show your desired file or folder name in default black color, you can right-click on the file or fol
