I'm using WinXP Home My solution was: Start > All Programs > Accesories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) then using this browser pagego to the runonce link http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx This should finally open the runonce page and allow u to select the settings u prefer, for example change the Search Utility to Google. Click on SAVE at the bottom. hope this works 4 u too! I do remember I had that page and I skipped the first time I open IE. I DID added search engines like Google and Answers.comWindows Media CenterIE7 (non-beta)Everything in English Tuesday, February 06, 2007 5:30 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote All, After fighting wifirst run welcome page "http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx" and you need to select your customization settings and then click on "Save your settings" button. This page will be displayed each time you open IE7 until you complete the customization wizard and save your settings. Sometimes people face problems as given below: The Runonce page is displayed every time even you have completed the customization process. A blank page appears even you have selected some other page as your Homepage. An "Error on page" appears with a plain blue color page. "Save your settings" button doesn't work and https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7d591af3-81e7-463e-ba58-c8da0ea886ef/httprunoncemsncomrunonce2aspx-error-on-page-done?forum=iewebdevelopment shows following error: Line 56 Char:2 Error: Element not found Code: 0 URL: http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2aspx IE7 shows following error upon startup: Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. http://www.askvg.com/how-to-fix-internet-explorer-7-ie7-stuck-at-annoying-first-run-welcome-page-httprunoncemsncomrunonce2aspx/ Requested URL: /runonce2.aspx All above mentioned problems occur if the Welcome page in IE7 is not loaded correctly or if it opens with restricted security settings. If you are also facing this problem, then follow these simple steps and your problem will be solved: 1. Type regedit in RUN dialog box and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor. Now go to following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main 2. In right-side pane, look for following 2 DWORDs: RunOnceComplete RunOnceHasShown 3. Make sure both have their values set to 1. If any or both of them are set to 0, then change the value to 1 4. That's it. Exit registry editor and start Internet Explorer. Now it'll not show the welcome page and will directly go to your Homepage. NOTE: If you don't want to edit registry manually and want a ready-made file to do this task, then download following ZIP file, extract it and then run the extracted REG file: Download Registry Script to Fix IE7 First Run Page Problem Share this article: Facebook | Twitter | Google+ | Reddit | Tell a friend Posted in: Internet Explorer, Troubleshooting, Windows Vista, Windows XP Other similar articles that may interest you Enable Hidden Secret "Debug"
