If you don't need to use the IDE drive for that...Start - Run - type: sysedit (click OK or press Enter)Access Config.sysEither - if you're not sure - insert: rem, a space, at the beginning of that lineor - delete the lineFile - Save (in Config.sys).You won't get that error while booting from then on. .....If you DO need to be able to use an IDE drive in MsDos mode...CPQIDECD.SYS is an older IDE CD drive driver for a Compaq brand CD driveYou may be getting the error - because the file CPQIDECD.SYS is not present in C:\Windows\System, or because you no longer have a Compaq CD drive and that driver doesn't work with the IDE drive you're using. I change the keyboard and reinstalled windows and most of my programs since I had lost some of them. There was no virus in my computer, only keyboard problem. My problem is when I start my computer, just after I get the Window 95 screen I get a black screen with things error in config.sys writen on it. The first line of the file is in error. If you can't fix it, post back the entire contents of the file. When you're in the config.sys dos editor screen, just put the cursor in the front of the first line and type REM and make a space between that and the rest of the line.
