You must uninstall at least one and possibly up to 4 updates to make Outlook work again. Symptoms are: A) it worked fine yesterday B) cannot send or receive, C) error message contains SSL and 0x800421A or ox800421B error code D) you are not using SSL for your POP or SMTP, but you receive SSL errors Note: Before starting, close all programs, especially Outlook2003. Even better, make a backup of your computer and reboot before uninstalling. Steps 1 Open the Add/Remove Programs applet: (WindowsXP) Vista is similar... Click [Start], [Settings], [Control Panel], [Add/Remove Programs] 2 Up at the top of the Programs list, make sure that the checkbox for "Show Updates" is checked. 3 Search down the list of programs (it's alphabetic) to the "Office 2003 Standard Edition..." items, specifically any that relate to "Office 2003 Outlook, Junk Filter, or GDIPLUS...." and have a recent date install date on or after October 12, 2009. 4 For best results, remove each separately, reboot and try Outlook after each step. This way, if it's only one update that caused the problem, you can keep the others. 5 KB973515: "Update for Outlook2003 Junk Filter OUTFLTR" KB973705: "Update for Outlook2003 OUTLOOK" KB953432: "Update for Outlook2003 OUTLOOK" KB954478: "Update for Outlook2003 GDIPLUS" 6 Do one more final reboot just for fun, and then after restart, try Outlook again. sudden I cannot receive email messages in Outlook 2003 and receive the error message mentioned above. Guest, Jul 27, 2005 #1 Advertisements Guest Guest Same problem here. Are you using outlook to get your emails? are you on Office XP? What I have found out so far is that if I shut off Norton Antivirus the problem goes away. Looking at the microsoft site it asks if I have office XP installed (yes) and the fix is suppose to be SP3 for Office xp. Will I already have all the updates installed. Same problem. Guess I will see if Norton has a fix. If you find one let me know as I am still hunting for a solution.
