Today, 4 reports ran and got the error "Encapsulating page failed". The reports haven't changed and neither have the Tomcats or Java. On the main Mid-Tier we are running Mid-Tier 7.5, Tomcat 6.0.29 and Java 1.6.0_21. On the reporting Mid-Tier we are running Mid-Tier 7.6.03, Tomcat 5.5.28 and Java 1.6.0_20. We are using Crystal Reports 2008 V1 SP2. I'm checking with SAP as well. On that site and the web I saw mention of checking the access from the Report Server host to the AR System Server host (verified via telnet) and changing the default view format in the Crystal Reports CMS Preference page to "Web ActiveX (ActiveX required)" (no affect). Has anyone encountered this error or have any idea what the solution is? 3115Views Tags: none (add) arContent tagged with ar, mid_tierContent tagged with mid_tier, reportsContent tagged with reports, systemContent tagged with system, midtierContent tagged with midtier, serverContent tagged with server, crystalContent tagged with crystal, 7.6.03Content tagged with 7.6.03 This content has been marked as final. Unable to retrieve Object. Error in File [FILE NAME]: Encapsulating page failed. The report runs fine on my desktop but not on the server through Central Management Console. I have verified: ODBC connection is the same on both desktop & server. Through Design, Database>Verify Database. Through Design, File>Report Options Show All Headers On Drill Down is not checked. Through Design, File>Page Setup No Printer is checked. Crystal Version is XI Business Objects is 11.5 I did notice that the server is on .NET 3.5SP1 and my desktop is on .NET4. Would this be a contributor to my symptoms? Thanks in advance! RE: Encapsulating page failed hilfy ( IS/IT--Management) 25 Jun 13 16:25 The .NET versions should have nothing to do with this - BO is not a .NET application. Also, this version of BO came out around the same time as .NET 2.0 - so it won't use either version that you mention. What are you doing when you get this message? Viewing the re

Crystal Reports in asp.net - Encapsulating page failed - ERROR P: n/a Phin Hi, I saw that a few people in the past have been getting the same error when a user tries to drill down (to a sub-report) on a crytal report with ASP.NET (but there was no solution posted): "Encapsulating page failed" We are using CR 8.5? Any thoughts or a solution? Please post! Thanks, P Nov 19 '05 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 1 Reply P: n/a Phin OK. I figured out on how to get this to work. So, I am posting the solution for the next poor soul that comes around with the same error. When developing the report in Crystal, make sure of the following: Within crystal -> file -> report options -> "show all headers on drill down" is not checked. Before putting the report on the web server check that they only tabs for the drill down within crystal are design and preview. The .NET web report viewer won't work if there are tabs open on the report. Good times! Man, I can't wait for Microsoft reporting services 2.0 and SQL server 2005 so I can kiss Crystal buh-bye! : ) Phin Nov 19 '05 #2 This discussion thread is closed Start new discussion Replies have been disabled for this discussion.
