Everything was ok on my notebook (VS2005, win2K, framework 2.0), but when i deployed to win2003 I got this nasty error "The request could not be submitted for background processing". I tried everything but finally got it working by giving theNETWORKSERVICE user 'list' permissions on the root of my D: drive. I don't understand why this worked.... D:\TEMP is the windows temp folder on the 2003 server, maybe that has something to do with it. Kind regards Rik Reply kbach None 0 Points 15 Posts Re: Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT: The request could not be submitted for background processing Sep 10, 2007 09:18 PM|kbach|LINK After you give Network Service List permissions on C: [or whatever drive] and confirm the report loads correctly, you should be able to REMOVE the Network Service from the permissions list, and the report will STILL work. This was my experience. I suspect that there's a COM registration problem that gets resolved and then the permission is no longer required??

I have to do an implementation of one of our Intranet Solution in Canada. The application is developed using ASP.Net. We are using Crystal Report to create reports. You must http://forums.asp.net/t/1010099.aspx?Error+in+File+UNKNOWN+RPT+The+request+could+not+be+submitted+for+background+processing be aware that while generating the reports Crystal Report uses C:\Windows\Temp for writing temporary files. The problem is the client does not want us to use that folder for security reasons. We tried entering the values in the windows registry in the InprocServer/TempDir but it throws an exception Error in File http://www.crystalreportsbook.com/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3465 UNKNOWN.RPT:The request could not be submitted for background processing."Can you tell me what do I have to do inorder to handle this error.
