Try to indicate the full path to the file: output <- BRugsFit("/path/to/file/model.txt", data, inits, numChains = 2, seed=6, parametersToSave,nBurnin = 100,nIter = 1000, nThin = 5, coda = T,digits = 5) or first set the working directory with setwd: setwd("/path/to/file/") share|improve this answer answered Mar 7 '14 at 16:56 Julián Urbano 6,3161643 It seems like that my working path is too long. Is there a restriction from BRugsFit? –T.. Mar 7 '14 at 17:02 Too long? I wouldn't think that's the problem. No idea about BRugsFit –Julián Urbano Mar 7 '14 at 17:03 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I get this error when trying to write to a temporary directory, it looks like the above is the same problem. The directory is made, but the file cannot be written to that directory despite changing permissions. The working directory, the path to the file I am working with, and the path to the temporary directory are all fine. It looks like the OP is having the same

Just go the R website and download the latest version. You will have to reinstall your packages manually though, which can be a pain. You can use rownames(installed.packages()) in your old R to get a list of the packages you currently have installed so that when you go to your new R you can just work down the list and install them all again. You could even do sprintf('install.packages(%s)', paste(shQuote(rownames(installed.packages())),collapse=',')) and then copy-paste that command into your new R to try reinstall everything you had installed on your old R. I personally pre
