Members 877 posts Location:UK Posted 15 September 2009 - 05:09 PM Inetcpl.cpl is the "Internet Options" applet that you get when you select "Internet Options" from the IE Tools https://forum.piriform.com/?showtopic=24223 menu. It's also available through Control Panel. ClearMyTracksByProcess is an entry point into that applet and is used to clear things like the IE browser history. It sounds to me as though that applet has become corrupt; in other words that it may not be a ccleaner issue. I suspect if you went to this applet via your browser or via Control Panel you'd see the same problem if you tried to clear your tracks. Here's one article about repairing Inetcpl.cpl http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216583 (note that the symptoms described are different to yours; but the Methods to do a repair would be the same ... [though Method 2 wouldn't seem to apply to your scenario]).Note I'm not a regular around here and these are just my views on your problem. There's a very old post by Andavari here http://forum.ccleane...?showtopic=7768 ... I'm sure he can tell you if that tool is still an appropriate way of repairing that applet. Alternatively, someone here may have seen this before and can sugges

I think it should be inetcpl.cpl and not netcpl.cpl. It has something to do with IE7's "Delete browsing History" feature, from what a preliminary search suggests. Also: are you using Vista or XP? Service pack(s) up to date? Last edited by James; 17th February 2009 at 01:06. The below Step-by-Step Tutorial should be simple to follow. I'll be using a Windows Vista machine for the Tutorial and Screen Shots however the process is pretty much the same for Windows XP and other Windows Operating Systems. 1. Right Click on your Desktop and Click New, Text Document You should now have a new Document on your Desktop that looks like this: 3. Double Click the Document to open it. Type or Paste the following text into the empty document RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 255 It should now look like this: 3a. Click File, Save then Close the Document Ok, now it's time to convert the document into a Batch file. It's a simple process or changing the file extension to a .cmd file. 4. Right Click on the Document and Click Rename 5. Delete the document name and Type ClearHistory.cmd (or whatever you want to call it). After Rename - Your Done! To test it out, just Double Click the File and you should see a Internet Explorer 7 box open telling you it's clearing it's Temporary Files If your REALLY paranoid, you can setup a Windows Task to run your new Batch file every 15 or 30 Minutes. Personally, I only clear my Browsing History and Temp files to get rid of clutter on my Hard Drive. Related Article: Access Your Music Collection from OneDrive via Xbox Music Comments?
