Error In Initializing Provider Oracle
other blogs talking about this issue and the common solution seems to be network connectivity issues or SQL browser not started. error in initializing provider ssis I verified my configuration but continue to have problems. Configuration: SQL Server 2005 running on Windows 2003. There are a total of four instances on the server, the one causing problems is ssis test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider SQLEXPRESS using port 1584 based on the log files. The Browser Service is running (temporarily using administrator account) and two of the other instances can be seen using a udl file. There aren't any firewalls running on the server and the workstation firewalls have been temporarily disabled. Problem: Older client workstations that have been on the network can connect to the instance using SERVER\SQLEXPRESS
Test Connection Failed Because Of An Error In Initializing Provider Sql Server 2008
but a new workstation fails to connect. The udl file is stored on the server and used for testing all client's connectivity. Error is "Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. [DBNETLIB] [ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access is denied" The new workstation successfully connects using tcp/ip and named pipes and can also connect to another instance using SERVER\ACT. I performed network captures on workstations. The working PC traffic shows communications to port 1584 immediately without using 1434 at any point. The failing workstation shows comm. strictly to port 1434. It seems like the SQL Browser is unaware of the instance and the old workstations have the port cached somewhere. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for your help. Since your old client can connect to the Sqlexpress instance, I assume "sqlexpress" was there originally. Please let us if this solve your problem.
