Article ID: 35922 Updated: 12 May 2014 0 people found this helpful Available in: English | Español | Italiano | 日本語 | Français | Deutsch Issue When performing a error in UDL database connection test the following error is seen: Test connection failed because of an error initializing provider. Cannot open database "SOPHOS50" requested by the login. The login failed. Note: 'SOPHOS50' shown above could be replaced by any of the Sophos database names. First seen in Enterprise Console 4.5.0Sophos Enterprise Manager 4.7.0Sophos Control Center 4.0.0 Cause There are various reasons for the UDL test to fail. The error seen is a high error in initializing level error which does not point to a singular problem. What To Do The error generally means the database being tested cannot be contacted. Therefore you must check and confirm the following: Check the SQLServer(SOPHOS) (or other named instance hosting the Sophos database(s)) is started and can be restarted. Check the physical database files exist. For example the default installation path for Enterprise Console 5.0 is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SOPHOS\MSSQL\DATA\ The database files for console v5 (with Sophos Patch) are: Sophos Enterprise Console: SOPHOS50.mdf and SOPHOS50_log.LDF Sophos Patch Server: SOPHOSPATCH.mdf and SOPHOSPATCH_log.LDF Check the databases are attached to the SQL instance. Open a command prompt (Start | Run | Type: cmd.exe | Press return). Type:sqlcmd -E -S .\sophos -Q "select name from sysdatabases" The databases attached to the SQL instance are shown and the list should contain the associated Sophos databases names. Using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express check the database appears correctly without a warning icon on any type next to the database name (see links toscreen shotsbelow). Problems with the database that are shown in SQL Server Management Studio include: The database is offline. The database is in single user mode. The database is in restricted user mode. These issues can be resolved by checking the database tasks me
0 I am working on creating a scheduled job with SSIS (using Visual Studio 2008). SLQ server environment: Principal server (on line databases) Mirror server (databases in Restoring mode) Witness server, with automatic failover. (all SQL server 2008) Problem: In the Connection Manager, when trying to create a New OLE DB Connection, I select the server name (which is the Mirror server) and then in the drop down for "Select or enter a database name" I do not see ANY mirrored database from the server name I selected. I try to enter the database name manually and when clicking on Test Connection, I get an error: "Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Login failed for user 'user_name'. Cannot open database "(data_base name)" requested by the login. The login failed." I do not get this when mapping the server name to the Principal server with the online databases. That works just fine. I know that mirrored database in Restoring mode cannot be access, but is there a way to map the mirrored database to the OLE DB connection? Any advice is greatly appreciated (I am a newbie to SSIS). more ▼ 0 total comments 1156 characters / 191 words asked Feb 16, 2012 at 11:31 PM in Default Noamco36 1 ● 1 ● 1 ● 1 add new comment (comments are locked) 10|1200 characters needed characters left ▼ Everyone Moderators Original poster and moderators Other...
