Microsoft Office for Developers > Outlook for Developers Question 0 Sign in to vote Hello Team, an error occurred while initializing mapi I am unable to enable MAPI, MAPIInitialize failed with error 0x80004005 == MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED. Here are some known causes for this. 1 - No version of Extended MAPI is installed. Either Outlook or MAPICDO must be installed. See http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E17E7F31-079A-43A9-BFF2-0A110307611E to install MAPICDO. 2 - The 64 bit version of Outlook 2010 is installed. The 64 bit version of Outlook 2010 requires the 64 bit build of MFCMAPI. See http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com
Mapiinitialize Mapi_e_call_failed
for the latest 64 bit build of MFCMAPI. 3 - Windows Mail or Outlook Express (which do not implement Extended MAPI) is registered as the Default Mail Client. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dd162409.aspx for information on setting the Default Mail Client. In file MapiObjects.cpp On line 120 Client Info: MS Office 2016 64 bit. Registry for MAPI is fine. Can someone please share some thoughts on fixing this, without doing the OSRI. Solved error: Failed to initialize MAPI error Posted on 2010-12-07 Outlook Email Clients Exchange 1 Verified Solution 2 Comments 4,001 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-10 When running EmailXtender client or when using the Outlook plugin to try to restore a shortcut in Outlook. Outlook itself works fine. I also tested/played around with the MFCMAPI.exe tool. On a normal machine I can "Load MAPI" (C:\WINDOWS\system32\mapi32.dll), then Session > Initilalize MAPI, and then Login... no errors. On the broken machine in MFCMAPI when I select Session > Initialize MAPI it gives this error: "MAPIInitialize failed with error 0x80004005 == MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED." So, it isn't JUST EmailXtender.. it is some problem with MAPI32. BTW: I can load and initialize OLMAPI32.DLL... in MFCMAPI.exe Does anyone have any additional things to try? The MAPI32.DLL appears to be the correct file/version/size for WinXp Sp3 This is isolated to one PC. A VIP machine of course, and saying "send it in for re-image..." is not on my to-do list YET. I've also tried FIXMAPI.exe as well as the following steps. No joy. : Uninstalled Office 2007 Uninstalled EmailXtender Rebooted Reinstalled Office 2007, then patched it to the latest/greatest Reinstalled EmailXtender. 0 Question by:FDiskWizard Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 12 Best Solution byFDiskWizard I fixed it - FINALLY!
