However, I'm now attempting to port this app to XBAP project and every time I try to run this or even a fresh XBAP project with a property grid ona page I get the following: System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException was unhandledMessage: Cannot create instance of 'Page1' defined in assembly 'CycloWare.APS, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Error in markup file 'Page1.xaml' Line 1 Position 7. Of course, removing the grid fixes the problem. Does this have to do with partial trust? And please tell me that this great control can work in a sandboxed environment. Thanks, Kavan Posted on Feb 25 2008 Post reply kshaban 78 posts Hi Again, In my haste, I failed to notice the following in the VS output: Reference 'Mindscape.WpfPropertyGrid' does not allow partially trusted callers. As a side, I was getting this for some my helper assemblies, and a simple project setting change solved it. Although, if reflection of non-public members or something Full-Trust is happening by the grid than the solution will be a bit more involved. Thanks again, Kavan Posted on Feb 25 2008 Post reply ivan 5,431 posts Hi Kavan,I'm afraid this is a limitation of the present version of the grid. As you can imagine it does do quite a lot of reflection, though almost all of this is over public members. I will look into the feasibility of supporting partial trust and the XBAP environment and get back to you.Cheers,Ivan Posted on Feb 25 2008 Post reply ivan 5,431 posts Well, that was an interesting journey *grin*.At heart, we can make the grid work in partial trust scenarios (we need to make some minor changes to the code, along the lines of APTCA and security metadata, but these are no big deal).*However*, some of our customers require support for custom type descriptors, and in order to support these customers while keeping the API transparent, we have our own internal subclass of

I see in the WPF application view that I can add a 'custom windows form control' to the project and it makes an empty custom control, but I can't figure out how to add it. Ideally I'd like to know how to take the .dll from my compiled windows http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1310154/how-to-put-a-custom-windows-forms-control-in-a-wpf-application forms user control and stick it into the WPF app, or import the user control into the WPF application. What you should do instead is "host" the user control inside of the WPF application. See how to do it on MSDN. Here's an example of how to use a masked text box (which you can easily modify to use your custom control):

Comments (0) Recently I had to deal with targeting an XBAP application that had some Windows Forms controls. The problem is that those controls can only be used in a trusted environment. If you try to debug an XBAP with some Windows Forms Controls you will get an exception like: Message: Cannot create instance of 'Page1' defined in assembly 'XBAPWithWinForms, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Error in markup file 'Page1.xaml' Line 1 Position 7. It took me a while to found a solution, and it was thru Scott Landford Blog that I found a way around. In short what he recommends to do is: Change your settings to: Start Action->Start external program = %windir%system32\PresentationHost.exe In my case (and the case of most people that is: c:\windows\system32\PresentationHost.exe) Start Options->Command line arguments = -debug "c:\projects\myproject\bin\debug\MyProject.xbap" -debugSecurityZoneUrl "http://localhost:2022" Copy the value from the Start URL after the –debug argument Very import for using WinForms components you must run in FULL TRUST Here is some XBAP code using a WinForms WebBrowser.
