Error In Markup File Window1 Xaml
(WPF) Question 0 Sign in to vote Hello, I've been doing WPF stuff for a few month now. I still don't know how to take advantage of WPF exception when I'm in debug mode. The exception is too generic: Cannot create instance of 'Window1' defined in assembly 'TestApp, Version=1.0.2593.18516, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Error in markup file 'Window1.xaml' Line 1 Position 9. There is infact nothing wrong with line1 Position9...Am I missing an option or something. Thanks Houman Tuesday, February 06, 2007 6:19 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Sorry. I know this is painful. The best way to handle this is to Debug\Exceptions\Add: ComboBox: Common Lanaguage Runtime ExceptionsTextBox: System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException Check the "Thrown" box for that newly added Exception (S.W.M.XPE) When I have a mistake like this in my XAML: <Grid Background="Greeeen"> Which will normally error like this: Cannot create instance of 'Window1' defined in assembly 'UsingWpfUtilities, Version=1.0.2593.18928, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Error in markup file 'UsingWpfUtilities;component/Window1.xaml' Line 1 Position 9. Catching the XamlParseException will give you the following message: Cannot convert the value in attribute 'Background' to object of type 'System.Windows.Media.Brush'. Token is not valid. Error at object 'System.Windows.Controls.Grid' in markup file 'UsingWpfUtilities;component/window1.xaml' Line 10 Position 6. We are working to improve this experience in VS "Orcas".Thanks, Rob RelyeaProgram Manager, WPF Teamhttp://rrelyea.spaces.live.com Tuesday, February 06, 2007 8:28 PM Reply | Quote Moderator All replies 0 Sign in to vote Sorry. create instance of ‘Window1' defined in assembly ‘YourAssembly, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. https://annalear.ca/2010/02/15/xamlparseexception-during-application-startup/ Error in markup file ‘Window1.xaml' Line 1 Position 9." The inner exception is similarly not giving much information: {"Exception has been thrown by the target http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?587571-RESOLVED-strange-error of an invocation."} The trick to getting to the root of the problem is simple. There are a couple ways to do so: Wrap the error in code in the constructor of the Window in a try/catch block. This will provide you with access to the actual exception and its stack trace. public MainWindow() { try { InitializeComponent(); // other code, if any } catch(Exception ex) { // log the exception -- this is the real culprit error in markup } } Open the Exceptions window in Visual Studio (Debug -> Exceptions…) and check the "Common Language Runtime Exceptions" checkbox in the Thrown column. Re-run your application with the debugger attached, and the application will break on the exception that's getting wrapped in XamlParseException. I have this line of code. Code: Stream imageStreamSource = new FileStream("images/plane.jpg", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read); As far as I can tell that line of code looks OK however I get this frustratingly useless error msg. Code: Cannot create instance of 'Window1' defined in assembly 'WpfApplication2, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Error in markup file 'Window1.xaml' Line 1 Position 9. I have added plane.jpg to the images folder of the project. Shrug* I am stuck and frustrated. Google didn't get me anything useful either.
