* from one big table (10,000 rows * 75 columns) from SQL Query Tool, I got a DB-Library message: Possible network error: Error in sending out-of-band data to SQL Server. General network error. Check your documentation. http://www.verycomputer.com/156_c5662d139a2a190b_1.htm Net-Library error 10054: ConnectionWriteOOB (send()). DB-Library Process Dead - Connection Broken I find the error 10054 at SQL Server Books Online, but it comes with a different message text relating bulk copy. Does anyone know why? FYI, the SQLServer https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Testing_for_SQL_Server is version 6.5 sp4 for NT. Thanks in advance. Kevin Hu Top 1. Error in sending out-of-band data I'm having trouble updating a table in my db. The following executes with no error message: error in UPDATE What SET Highlight = 1 WHERE WhatID = 17257 But immediately following, the statement: SELECT * FROM What Stops partway through the table with the message: DB-Library: Possible network error: Error in sending out-of-band data to SQL Server. Net-Library error 232: ConnectionWrite (GetOverLappedResult()). DB-Library Process Dead - Connection Broken It stops at the record number of the updated record. Any idea what could be causing this? Here's the table definition: CREATE TABLE dbo. What ( WhatID int error in sending IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL , PlaceID int NULL , SubSectionID int NULL , ScrapbookID int NULL , WhatName varchar (255) NULL , WhatDesc text NULL , Phone varchar (26) NULL , Recurring tinyint NOT NULL , RecurringBegins datetime NULL , RecursUntil datetime NULL , EntryDate datetime NULL , WebOnly tinyint NOT NULL , TicketPrice varchar (255) NULL , PaperTime varchar (255) NULL , RecurDay1 tinyint NOT NULL , RecurTime1 varchar (50) NULL , RecurDay2 tinyint NOT NULL , RecurTime2 varchar (50) NULL , RecurDay3 tinyint NOT NULL , RecurTime3 varchar (50) NULL , RecurDay4 tinyint NOT NULL , RecurTime4 varchar (50) NULL , RecurDay5 tinyint NOT NULL , RecurTime5 varchar (50) NULL , RecurDay6 tinyint NOT NULL , RecurTime6 varchar (50) NULL , RecurDay7 tinyint NOT NULL , RecurTime7 varchar (50) NULL , DownTheRoad tinyint NOT NULL , Highlight tinyint NOT NULL , HighlightCaption text NULL , Approved tinyint NOT NULL , upsize_ts timestamp NULL ) I've tried this with and without any triggers and indexes on the table. I've also tried dropping the table, redefining it, and reinserting data with the same result. The SELECT statement works fine at first, but fails immediately after the UPDATE statement. FYI: I have several other tables similar in design, and they all work fine. Anybody know what this might be? 2. When do you need a DBA? 3. Error: sending out-of-band data 4. SQL injection vulnerabilities occur whenever input is used in the construction of an SQL query without being adequately constrained or sanitized. The use of dynamic SQL (the construction of SQL queries by concatenation of strings) opens the door to these vulnerabilities. SQL injection allows an attacker to access the SQL servers and execute SQL code under the privileges of the user used to connect to the database. As explained in SQL injection, a SQL-injection exploit requires two things: an entry point and an exploit to enter. Any user-controlled parameter that gets processed by the application might be hiding a vulnerability. This includes: Application parameters in query strings (e.g., GET requests) Application parameters included as part of the body of a POST request Browser-related information (e.g., user-agent, referrer) Host-related information (e.g., host name, IP) Session-related inform
