I tryed to install a custom style and needed to rename the shell32.dll file. I took ownership of the file renamed it shell32backup.dll. However, after I did this,my pc crashed n rebooted.. so i now have a SHELL32backup.dll in the system folder...but no SHELL32.dll...when i boot my laptop i get a black screen, safe mode is error in the same...i have the original SHELL32.dll on my laptop in a spare folder but i cant access anything on the laptop...no start menu, no icons...just a blank screen can anyone help me i DONT have a vista instal disc either no back up at all for my OS helpppp please Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top Spacegold Posts: 594 This post has been reported. Try this - Shutdown computer Turn it back on (Boot up) As the blue bios screen starts, tap F8 a couple of times, should open Safe Mode. Arrow the white bar down to 'Safe Mode with Command Prompt' (about three or four rows down). Click Enter. You should now be in black Command Prompt window with a white curser flashing. Type the following - sfc /scannow (there is a space between sfc /). Click Enter. Allow it to run, should take around 10-15 minutes, you'll see the percentage running. This should scan and re
