CMS Database Error- Unable to establish a connection Started by AnScathMarcach , May 22 2014 04:33 PM Please log in to reply 9 replies to this topic #1 AnScathMarcach AnScathMarcach Subdreamer Newbie Customer 4 posts Posted 22 May 2014 - 04:33 PM First I should say that I'm new to Subdreamer and FTP software, but I am pretty technologically savvy otherwise. Hopefully I'm not clogging up the wrong topic or anything. The problem going on is with the site "http://louisvillecostsavers.com/" with the error: Subdreamer CMS Database Error: Unable to establish a connection to the MySQL server. MySQL Error Description: Access denied for user 'louisville3'@'50.63.197.68' (using password: YES) MySQL Error Number: 1045 Date: Thursday 22nd of May 2014 04:20:03 PM File: http://louisvillecos...s.com/index.php The site has been down since Monday morning I have sent a support ticket, but access to the FTP end is needed and I can't figure out how to get in myself. I did ask "how to do this", but the response has been taking a while and my boss (and the customers) are getting a tad impatient as this needs to be back up and running as soon as possible. All of this happened before I was given access to the site as an admin, and a lot of important files and information has been lost regarding access to the site as a whole, including the password. Even the admin page shows this error, so it's going to be very hard for me to get this working since I seem to be one of the only ones on the team who knows anything about this stuff and yet I don't have the access. I tried experimenting with Filezilla, but I can't seem to connect to the site. Either the password is wrong, or the login system is busted altogether. I keep getting: Response: 530 Login authentication failed Error: Critical error Error: Could not connect to server

The user-agent string is passed as-is from HTTP headers without any validation / escaping. This opens up a possibility for SQL Injection attacks. I haven't found a way to directly exploit this vulnerability to access the database. However, an indirect DoS attack is possible. The default setting for "Send Database Errors by Email" is "On" in Subdreamer. This means that every time an error occurs in SQL processing, an E-Mail is sent to the website administrator. Now, inserting ' in the User-agent string causes an SQL error, and therefore causes an error message to be sent to the administrator. This means that the administrator E-Mail can be flooded with error messages via this vulnerability. Workaround PHPBB3: On line 701 of includes/usersystems/phpbb3.php, the original code
