I have seen the KB articles for MOSS 2007 for this error, but nothing for 2010. Any ideas? Anders B. The cause of this erro message may be that you have Incorrect address for search proxy (unnecessary space in URL) ,you can try correct the address for search proxy. Error Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services ProtocolHandler In order to clear this error that you may https://sharepointuzma.wordpress.com/2009/02/20/search-errors-error-microsoft-windows-sharepoint-services-protocol-handler/ see in your error log in Central Administration, stop http://www.mssharepointtips.com/tip.asp?id=1056 the Search Service. This will detatch the indexer from the farm. Start it up again and assign the correct server as the indexer. Go to Shared Services and make sure you edit it so that you error in choose the indexer. Go to your search settings, reset crawled content and re-crawl. After I did that, got another horrible error: Element not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002802B (TYPE_E_ELEMENTNOTFOUND)) (ComInterop Exception). Yes, nasty. I re-crawled content from the server directly and it is nicely crawling content error in the again. Here is how to fix the "People Search contains no results" issue. I. On the SharePoint server, open Central Administration. => Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office Server > Central Administration. II. Open the Shared Services Provider (SSP) for your web application. => "Shared Services Administration" > Click on the SSP where your application is. III. Click on "Search Settings" : IIV. Open "Content Sources & Crawl Scheduling" : IV. Edit "Local Offices SharePoint Server Sites" (Default : Local Content Source or your custom added content source) : V. Replace the "http" handler protocol with the "sps3" protocol to activate and index people search, which is a placeholder for your SharePoint start address within Start Addresses. (For example : Instead of "http://sharepoint_server/site/" use "sps3://sharepoint_server/site/").
