Solved Reset DNS Service error (Win2000Pro) Posted on 2004-03-10 Networking DNS 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 2,005 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-04 This is being asked for a friend of mine. My W2K laptop uses wireless connection to my cable modem via Linksys router. I use VPN (nortel client) for connection to my work system (email, intranet etc) I am been getting an error recently that doesnt seem to stop me from working but it causes delays, it is: "Reset DNS Service: Control Service - Get Last Error" "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" The computer pauses and sits idle for a bit then shows this error, then continues fine. Also, I have two other computers in my home network that are wired thru the same router, except they are hardwired. I am getting IP address conflicts but all the IP addresses are set to automatic. I went into my event log and found these errors recurring: Error#5719 (this occured 3 times in one hour this morning) No Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller is available for domain GEPHTV. The following error occurred: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. (GEPHTV is my work server...not local) Error#7011 (this occured 6 times in one hour this morning) Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the Dnscache service. Error #7031 (this occured 3 times in one hour this morning

More about : win2000 setup error Anonymous 4 August 2004 03:50:58 Archived from groups: microsoft.public.win2000.setup (More info?) You didn't mention the drive controller (possibly SCSI, or ultra DMA, or ATA100, or raid, https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20914976/Reset-DNS-Service-error-Win2000Pro.html or serial ATA), but you may need to boot the Windows 2000 setup disks or CD-Rom and *F6* very early and very important (at setup is inspecting your system) in the setup to prevent drive controller detection, and select S to specify additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to insert the manufacturer supplied Windows 2000 driver for your drive's controller in drive "A" If you wait http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/226560-46-win2000-setup-error and then S to specify additional drivers, then it may be too late as Windows 2000 Setup at this point may have already assigned the resources your drive's controller is wanting to use. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. The actual error message is "failed to ArcRead the boot partition to check for a signature". I previously had another Maxtor drive that ran win2000 with no problems. The bios accepted the drive as a master & win2000 did format it, but the same error still comes up Can't find your answer ? Ask !
