Error in writing sub-document content.xml Discuss the word processor Post a reply 6 posts • Page 1 of 1 [Solved] Write Error in writing sub-document content.xml by Pogman » Mon Jan 30, 2012 4:31 am Hello I am working with OPEN OFFICE 3.3 on MS windows 7.0. I have used OO for years and no issue. Today, working on a 48 page doc, when I tried to save my document it gave me this message.... Write error. Error in writing sub-document content.xml.I have tried cntrl Z and the saving, did not work.I tried to copy the document and making a new doc and it would not save it as there must be something in the old doc that is preventing saving.I tried to save it to google docs, did this, re downloaded that doc. and it still will not save the document.I had an earlier version of this document and it it will not even let me alter and save that document.Any suggestions please would be great? Thanks Last edited by Hagar Delest on Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:16 am, edited 1 time in total. Error in writing sub-document content.xml by Pogman » Mon Jan 30, 2012 4:47 am Solved it.i have always saved files in ms windows 97 .doc format. it had somehow saved it in .odt format. once I changed the file format it saved it easily. However, I had lost the work that I had typed up from yesterday to day.Anyway to find the previous work??Thanks open office.org3.3.0000330m20(Build:9567Windows 7 Pogman Posts: 4Joined: Mon Jan 30, 2012 4:15 am Top Re: [Solved] Write Error in writing sub-document content.xml by Hagar Delest » Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:21 am Hi and welcome to the forum!Note that saving in an external format like .doc is not that good. Remember that the import/export filters have been reverse engineered, so you may face some troubles, especially if the layout gets complex.Better use the native format (ODF) and export only when needed. That's why standards are for.As for your trouble, few chances to get the work back. Check the temporary folder of the system (see in OOo Tools>Options>OOo>Paths). If there are folders like sgmlf.tmp with a file having the same name inside, make a copy of that file, rename it in .odt and cross your fingers. Can you reproduce it on a file and upload it here so that we can have a look (see How to attach a document here)? Incidentally although the text looks mangled it's actually in Thai with the charset iso8859-11 (or maybe TIS-620). When I use antiword to extract the text and then thaiconv to turn it into unicode then the Thai characters are revealed. I don't know if that's another bug because I don't know if LibreOffice should render this charset. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug.
