I remember the (E) version is fine, but a battery save is required to access the "after end-game" missions and what not. 26th-August-200512:02 #2 Jackofdiamonds View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries nothing better to do Join Date Jun 2005 Location USA Posts 245 Thanks 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts try changing the save type click on Optins, go to emulator, then go to save type, and try each savetype one at a time til you find one that works. 2008 #3 anandjones Active Member Change your save type by going Options, Emulator then Save Type. That should do it. anandjones, Apr 2, 2008 #4 kagedarkmode New Member Uh... yeah... I've tried it before, but http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?35043-Final-Fantastasy-Tactics-Advance-(U)-Error-in-backup-memory it doesn't seem to work. kagedarkmode, Apr 3, 2008 #5 anandjones Active Member Some games don't work with 1.8 beta, are you using it? Try using an earlier version of VBA like 1.7. anandjones, Apr 3, 2008 #6 kagedarkmode New Member I've tried an older version (1.4) ...and used all sorts of setting combinations for the save type but it still says the same message... "error in backup memory" This is getting https://forum.romulation.net/threads/final-fantasy-tactics-advance-saving-problems.6012/ frustrating... kagedarkmode, Apr 5, 2008 #7 anandjones Active Member Maybe try reinstalling 1.8, and/or redownloading the rom. anandjones, Apr 5, 2008 #8 Seph Administrator Redownloading the ROM is not the solution, if it's extracted then redownloading changes nothing, stop recommending that. Seph, Apr 5, 2008 #9 anandjones Active Member But it does help in some cases. anandjones, Apr 5, 2008 #10 kagedarkmode New Member Yay! Redownloading seemed to fix the problem! UNFORTUNATELY... when I try to load my file from the older one, i can't save again! I was forced to play the game all over again... But I guess it's alright now since I've already finished the game...(4 days by the way) Thanks for the help! ^_^ kagedarkmode, Apr 19, 2008 #11 Cahos Rahne Veloza Active Member From what you said it seems the problem was a corrupted SAV (save) file, this sometimes happens when you use a cheat code that was meant to be "turned on" once then had to be turned off BEFORE you save a game, like have all xx codes Cahos Rahne Veloza, Apr 19, 2008 #12 erikolol New Member You can make it says ERROR BACKUP MEMORY again by just SET FLASH TO 128K --but!!!-- While the FFTA rom is on! then YOU MUST Reset! Press Ctrl+R...

If you have the AFXE "FFTA_USVER" unpatched ROM and VBA 1.8.0.603 anyway, just set file type to Flash 64k after starting the ROM, then reset and then go check the save/load, if not click 64k then reset again, it's finicky. But now my game does WEIRD stuff on the load/save. It seems to forget that I've fixed its file type if I've just opened VBA and try to load, and I've been getting around it with a savestate--where the save/load works just as well as when I first applied the fix.But the kicker is, when I re-did the 64k fix out of curiosity, the save/load menu from the intro worked perfectly AND I found out my savestate-bypass save file was completely valid and entirely bug-free too!Does anyone have any idea why this odd thing was happening?
