I don't know code so I'm trying to use the Import Wizard in Access to import Excel Worksheet. I go to the Tables view of Access. I click http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/trying-to-use-import-spreadsheet-wizard-in-access.3160785/ on "New," Click on "Import Table," Click "OK" the screen changes so that I may choose the location of the file I want to Import. I set the "Field Type" to "Excel Worksheet," http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10421914/getting-an-unexpected-error-from-external-database-driver-1-when-importing-dat find the file and double click on it. The "Import Spreadsheet Wizard" box appears, I have previously in Excel set the print range so I Click on "Show Named Ranges," Click "Next," Click "First error in Row Contains Column Headers," (which I have previously entered into Access as they appear in Excel with the format of "Date," and "Text") I Click "Next." Since I want to put the information on the spreadsheet into an existing table in Access, I click "In An Existing Table," locate the name of the Access Table, Click "Next," The next popup menu shows the name of the Access error in loading Table I chose and I click "Finish." I keep getting the same message that an error occurred trying to import and "The file was not imported." I have gone back through each of my worksheets and looked at the headings, looked at the format of the cells; I've been trying to figure this out for two days, with repeated attempts, any ideas? The Spreadsheet Import Wizard won't help you determine what the error is. To find out, convert the spreadsheet to CSV format and use the Text Import Wizard instead. I eventually found out that my column headings in Excel COULD NOT HAVE ANY SPACES BETWEEN WORDS. For example Date of Birth need

I'm trying to import it into Access 2010 with the import wizard, but when I select that sheet, Access goes unresponsive, and after several seconds gives me a "Unexpected error from external database driver (1)" Is this due to the size of the sheet or is there something in the cells that stops it from working. Other sheets from the same file import with no problem. excel ms-access import share|improve this question edited Jun 1 '15 at 3:57 Dyrandz Famador 3,14851027 asked May 2 '12 at 21:20 user1251858 731310 1 Suggest you try a test at 1/2 size import, and then move up if that's successful. –octopusgrabbus May 2 '12 at 21:22 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote Check out this for Access 2010 specification: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/access-2010-specifications-HA010341462.aspx. In your case, it might be number of columns, so try to import less than 255 first. Also, it might be the size of the data in the columns or data types (importing text into numeric etc.) share|improve this answer answered May 2 '12 at 21:44 Igor Turman 1,85511322 it's down to 72 columns now, and I removed the majority of elements so there are only 1863 rows now, that still won't load into access interestingly enough, if I copy the data from that sheet to another new sheet, the new sheet will load (with 1863 rows and 72 columns), but if I copy the sheet that's giving me a hard time, that copy won't load –user1251858 May 3 '12 at 16:49 It sounds like a "left over" data that causes the problem. When you copy 1863 rows, you copy exactly what you see/want. When you copy a Sheet, you copy ALL the data (beyond 1863 rows). E.g. you might have some data in the row #1
