For complete SELinux messages. run error in service module suse sealert -l 5f8baee3-51a7-4c91-bb95-2499cf6e0f6f So as recommended I ran [root confianza log]# sealert -l 5f8baee3-51a7-4c91-bb95-2499cf6e0f6f Summary: SELinux is preventing login (local_login_t) "read" to ./limits.conf (var_log_t). Detailed Description: SELinux denied access requested by login. It is not expected that this access is required by login and this access may signal an intrusion attempt. It is also possible that the specific version or configuration of the application is causing it to require additional access. Allowing Access: Sometimes labeling problems can cause SELinux denials. You could try to restore the default system file context for ./limits.conf, restorecon -v './limits.conf' If this does not work, there is currently no automatic way to allow this access. Instead, you can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ (http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/selinux-faq-fc5/#id2961385) Or you can disable SELinux protection altogether. Disabling SELinux protection is not recommended. Please file a bug report (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi) against this package. The "solution" is to rebuild the box which is frustrating when you have a box running in production. I reboot the box and it won't start in run level 5. It default to level 3. And all sorts of error in service things fail and all kinds of system related errors pop-up. I have run HP diagnostics to see if there is any hardware issues - but there is none. One somewhat useful pointer I can find is "If you are on a OpenSuSE or SuSE SLES/SLED machine and have recently mounted /var to a new parition, you might get the following error: “Error in service module” If it keeps you from logging in, boot single user and touch /var/log/lastlog as root" from You are such a geek… » Error in Service Module but I don't mount or unmount partitions (and that includes /var). Last time I had this error I could see some of my daemons stopped working and I had to restart them manually. I could also see errors like: "kernel: killed process 19929 (save). kernel: Out of memory - kill process 9552 (x) source 85 or a child." Anyone knows where can I get paid support for OpenSUSE? Thanks.
