Using Partition Magic 8 boot disc, it tells me that there were partition table error that could be fixed. I agreed to let PM fix it automatically, but it did not solve the https://community.norton.com/en/forums/partition-magic-fixing-partition-table-error problem. Running pqmagic with /ipe switch, I can see that only the boot partition is damaged, the rest seem fine. I tried using PartInfo to get more details, but it outputs a lot of stuff quickly and I couldn't read anything. So my first question is : how to separate partinfo output in pages so that i could read them? I also tried running PtEdit, but it seems to hang the computer. Since it's the boot partition that's damaged, now I can only boot from the PM disc. (i am posting this from my phone.) Can anyone please help me correct this error? a problem with the partition tables on my dual boot XP/2000 (with 2 other partitions for data, etc.). I have a Duron 700 system (256MB SDRAM) which is a couple years old. I tried to use Partition Magic 7.0 http://www.pcguide.com/vb/archive/index.php/t-23876.html and a message pops up and says: "Partition table error #106" (and no partition info is http://www.r3d.de/cms/en/hilfreiche-snippets/151-partition-magic-error-105 displayed). PowerQuest's web site gives a description of this error mentioning FA32 (I have NTFS) and a very confusing remedy (to me anyway). My OSs are working just fine most of the time. And Partition Commander displays the general partition info just fine. I do have a MBRWORK backup of the MBR (but it may have been from a time before I changed the error in size of one or more partitions). Don't know if all the PTs are included in the MBR backup, or if changing a partition size makes the backup useless. Paul Komski07-24-2003, 02:29 PMA more exact outline (much more specific info) of your partition structures as well as what you have done to any partitions as well as a description of the actual problems that are happening - would all be very useful. If you have important data - the first priority is partition table windows to get it safely restored and/or backed-up. Re-sizing of the boot partition in particular, can result in corruption of the partition info. PM Error Info:- #106 Partition doesnt start with sector one:- See error #105. #105 Partition starts on wrong boundary:- The hard-disk partition table contains erroneous values. PartitionMagic expects partitions to begin and end on the correct cylinder boundaries. If they do not, the disk may be partially corrupted. In this circumstance, if PartitionMagic were to make any modifications it might cause the loss of data. Therefore, PartitionMagic refuses to recognize any of the hard disks partitions. BTW: Boot sector virus might also need excluding. iisbob07-24-2003, 02:59 PMNormally i would suggest using FIXMBR from the recovery console from your XP CD, or if you've installed recovery console then from that boot menu option-the only reason here i would hesitate to recommend you using that ( or FIXBOOT ) is because you are using a 3rd party partition program-something i never recommend unless you are using 3> OS's, as they can cause serious havoc with your system layout. Last time i used partition magic it seems there was a rescue dis set? that could be created to asist in fixing partition problems; do you or did you create such a backup? Paul Komski07-24-2003, 04:14 PMSpecific Qs:- Are 2K and XP both on separate NTFS partitions? Was XP installed after 2K? What is installed on C (which is preumably th

In this circumstance, if PartitionMagic were to make any modifications it might cause the loss of data. Therefore, PartitionMagic refuses to recognize any of the hard disk’s partitions. To resolve this problem, see the instructions in “Resolving Partition Table Errors” on page 117: Resolving Partition Table Errors Partition table errors are errors in the 100 - 199 range. In most cases, you must resolve partition table errors by creating new, error-free partition tables. The general steps are: (1) ensure you have no viruses (see below), (2) back up the data on the affected partitions, (3) delete the partitions, (4) recreate them, and (5) restore their contents. You may need to use the FDISK program from a recent DOS version, as earlier versions may refuse to delete HPFS or hidden partitions, and the OS/2 FDISK program may recognize the partition’s corruption and refuse to modify it. In some cases, you can resolve partition table errors manually. Run PartitionInfo to determine the errors on your partitions. PowerQuest technical support can help resolve partition table errors if you e-mail the PartitionInfo report to This email address is being protected from spambots. It is possible to force partition magic to read the partitions by using the switch /ipe pqmagic /ipe This way you don't have to use Fdisk to reformat the drive. © 1990 - 2016 Richard Dvorak | R3D Internet Dienstleistungen HomeAbout us Our TeamWebdesignDownloadsCode SnippetsCurrent ProjectsReferencesInternet ServicesPhotoPhoto-GalerieExhibitionsPrint ReferencesCurrent projectsNetwork ServicesSkript DownloadsHelpful snippetsIT ServicesContact usLoginImprintContact form CLOSE WINDOW X R3D Floater v.2.5.0 Next Version of mod_floater for Joomla! 2.5.x is ready for Download.
