Reply Reply Author Discussion Slippydiff Original Poster 7,913 posts 133 months [report] [news]Tuesday 5th August 2008 For the second time (I'm now using my laptop) I'm unable to use MS Outlook Express with BT broadband as it keeps asking for my password and then flags up an error. Having contacted BT they say the problem is with my Outlook Express software as my username and password works fine with the BT Yahoo Email system (which I hate the format of, especially the attaching of images to mails and the constantly having to delete spam) and thus I will have to use the BT Yahoo E mail system. Is there any way I can use O E with BT broadband ?Computer numptie here (so please keep any replies very simple) B19GRR 1,980 posts 166 months [report] [news]Tuesday 5th August 2008 Have you got the server authentication settings correct for the email account?Open the accounts properties dialog (tools->internet accounts), on the server tab check the 'My server requires authentication' box, press the 'settings' button and make sure the radio button is set to 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server'. Check outgoing SMTP port is 587 under 'advanced' tab (incoming is 110).Cheers,Rob K50 DEL 6,630 posts 138 months [report] [news]Tuesday 5th August 2008 Does this problem occur when trying to send only or when receiving as well?
