10061 in ISA: Connection refused There are times when you might come across a ‘Connection Refused’ error while using Microsoft’s ISA 2006 or Forefront TMG 2010 server. error 10061 sql server Fixing this depends on what the root cause is – which isn’t always easy

to determine. In this brief post, we shall assess how this can be done. Let’s start by examining what Error 10061 is error code 10061 connection refused solution saying. The client may be presented with an error message in the browser that looks something like this: Error Code 10061: Connection refused Background: When the gateway or proxy server contacted the upstream (Web) server, the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2482977 connection was refused. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the upstream server While the server activity log will show this: Failed Connection Attempt Log type: Web Proxy (Forward) Status: 10061 No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. In both cases, let’s focus on the key word ‘refused’. Your ISA or TMG server was able to reach the destination server, but http://www.chicagotech.net/msapps/isa2.htm that server responded with a message that tells the ISA/TMG server that it cannot have the requested data. There are a few things that could cause this, and how to address them depends on the direction in which the proxying is happening. If you are using ISA/TMG as a client proxy, then you may run into this problem when your clients try to access some external website. Remember how TCP works. The client sends a SYN packet to the server targeting the port (80 for HTTP). A server that is running a service on port 80 will respond with a SYN ACK, but if it is not, it will respond with a RST ACK. Your ISA/TMG reaches the server, but not the intended service. This is one way a server could “actively refuse” a connection attempt. The other way is for a firewall to block the connection, rather than drop it. A dropped connection would eventually time out, with the error message 10060, which we may look at in another post. But if a firewall is configured to block a connection, it will usually respond with a RST ACK to TCP connections that it is configured to block, just as a server that would not be running a requested service. A RST ACK is the TCP r

In order to retrieve this data, the Enterprise Console must establish a connection to the PRTG Web Server. If you open the PRTG Enterprise Console and see a "socket error number 10061", this means that your Enterprise Console was not able to connect to the PRTG Web Server running on the PRTG Core Server. There can be several reasons for this. If you can still log into the PRTG Web Interface but get this error message using the Enterprise Console, the most common matter is non-matching settings of Web Server and Enterprise Console. Step 1: Viewing the Enterprise Console Settings From the Windows Start Menu, open the PRTG Enterprise Console application. From the menu, select File | Manage PRTG Server Connections. The Devices overview appears. On the left side, click on PRTG Server Connections. On the right side, select a server entry and click on the edit Edit button (the wrench symbol). You see the settings the Enterprise Console uses to connect to the PRTG Web Server. Step 2: Viewing the PRTG Administration Tool Settings From the Windows Start Menu, open the PRTG Administration Tool on the machine that is running your PRTG Core Server. In the Web Server tab, you can view the section Select IP Address for PRTG's Web Server denoting the IPs that are allowed to establish a con
SERVER – Could not connect to TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it October 20, 2010Pinal DaveSQL, SQL Server, SQL Tips and Tricks22 commentsI was recently getting following error in my StreamInsight Application.Could not connect to TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.The solution was very simple, I had to enable exception of the my port in my windows firewall. The way I figured it out  was by quickly disabling the firewall (it was not a production server). Once I disabled it, the application just worked fine; this was a sign that the firewall was the cause of the issue, I right away enabled firewall and added my port as exception. So many errors have cropped up recently due to the connectivity issue. I have started to make my routine to check firewall first before I move to next action item in my troubleshooting list. When I sent this detail to my internal technical list of the expert, I got the suggestion that this error happens due to many other reasons as well and not only due to firewall.I am interested to know when and how this error happens and what is the resolution. This way, if we have complete list, we can avoid this error in future.Watch SQL in Sixty Seconds video to Resolve Connection Error: Reference: Pinal Dave (http://blog.SQLAuthority.com) Tags: SQL Error Messages1Related Articles SQL SERVER - Log Shipping Restore Job Error: The file is too recent to apply to the secondary database October 20, 2015Pinal Dave SQL SERVER - Installation failed with error - Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed November 14, 2015Pinal Dave SQL Server Interview Questions and Answers - Introduction April 15, 2007Pinal Dave 22 comments. Leave new Nakul Vachhrajani October 21, 2010 10:47 pmHello! This execption/error stumps most developers/IT staff who have just recently been exposed to Windows Server 2008 R2. I belive the R2 blocks incoming transactions by default, while the vanilla-2008 did not. Therefore, all of a sudden a system/database that worked fine on a Windows 2008 Server fails to accept connections from remote machines when upgraded to run on Windows 2008 R2 Server.Reply Nishant Rapate June 6, 2012 3:15 pmI am facing the same database connetivity issue but i am connecting to local database where firewall not comes in the picture.please suggest.Reply hamza82 September 10, 2012 1:39 pmPlease share the steps you followed to solve this issue.Reply vasu June 26, 2012 4:43 pmSame to meReply vasu June 26, 2012 4:44
