default contents. As a result, some SQL files in the update packages use those supposedly free IDs to install new features. Unfortunately, jUpgrade squashes those IDs, causing SQL errors during the update. Ergo, the problem is neither with Admin Tools, nor Joomla!. It is a problem created during the upgrade of your site. In order to work around the issue caused by the 2.5.3 to 2.5.4 upgrade, you will have to run the following SQL command in phpMyAdmin: INSERT INTO `#__menu` (`menutype`, `title`, `alias`, `note`, `path`, `link`, `type`, `published`, `parent_id`, `level`, `component_id`, `ordering`, `checked_out`, `checked_out_time`, `browserNav`, `access`, `img`, `template_style_id`, `params`, `lft`, `rgt`, `home`, `language`, `client_id`) VALUES ('menu', 'com_joomlaupdate', 'Joomla! After updating and receiving the error, you can still navigate back to the Joomla control panel, but when you try to access different areas such as article, extensions etc. you receive https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/7120 errors such as Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in home\site-name\administrator\components\com_content\controllers\article.php on line 34 Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in home\sitename\administrator\components\com_installer\controller.php on line 37 I am not really sure what causes this error. But I'm more than willing to share my Akeeba Backup file, if anyone wants my test data. It's the first time I've had this much trouble updating a Joomla site, but one of my own colleagues had the same issue and gave me the following advice, which I have pasted below: What I did to actually get the site up and running was the following Step 1 : Disabled the "Remember me" plugin before migrating Step2 : Download the update package from here: http://www.joomla.org/announcements/release-news/5468-joomla-3-0-1-released.html The one that say (for updates from Joomla 2.5) Step3: Install the package through the Joomla installer After that I could continue updating Joomla through the Joomla updater EDIT.. the tracker did not allow me to upload the txt file. Especially if it's happening on backend login too. You likely have a 3rd party system, user, or authentication plugin installed that isn't compatible with J3.2. Rename 3rd party system, user , and authentication plugin folders within /plugins/TYPE/3rdpartyplugin to see if one of them maybe causing problems. I cannot get past the following error: "1062 - An error has occurred. Duplicate entry '1' for key 'PRIMARY' " I have not found any solutions for I'm thinking of just installing the latest 3 version and rebuilding from scratch. Should I copy and tables from the current site for articles and modules or would this possibly cause some issues in the new database? Thanks for your opinions. upgrade suggestion Tweet Subscribe via email Accepted Answer Moderator Richard Pearce Offline Tuesday, April 28 2015, 07:09 AM - #permalink 0 Despite impressions, updating from 2.5 to 3 is not usually as simple as hitting the upgrade button. There can be incompatibilities with extensions including the template. So depending on the size of your site, it might be better to start again. However this isn't practical for most people. The process is complex and not something I have time to go into in detail right now. Instead, have a read of Peter Bui's suggestions: http://joomlabe.at/joomla-advice/management/tips-for-upgrading-joomla-2-5-x-to-joomla-3-x I also found this post on the Joomla forum: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=710&t=856663 Hope that helps.
