At this point in the code, the user has specified the source file and the destination folder. Instead of HandBrakeCLI just blindly overwriting a file with the same name in the destination folder, I wanted Finder to do a check and, if a file with the same does already exist in the destination folder, then I wanted to have the filename appended with the current date and time before the extension. Everything worked fine until I started adding the "if exists" code. Here's the chunk of code: tell application "Finder" set newFilepathPOSIX to POSIX path of dest_folder set newFilepathPOSIX to newFilepathPOSIX & "video.mp4" -- Check if file with same name exists if exists file newFilepathPOSIX then display dialog "There is already a file named \"video.mp4\". Do you want to replace the file?" buttons {"Quit", "No", "Yes"} cancel button 1 if result = {button returned:"No"} then set newFilepathPOSIX to POSIX path of dest_folder set newFilepathPOSIX to newFilepathPOSIX & "video" & getDateAsString & ".mp4" end if end if set newFilepathPOSIX to quoted form of newFilepathPOSIX set s

Basically I would like to batch (using AS) illustrator files. (open, find spot colors, change to process, save, close). So far I'm able to open files but the part when is supposed to change them into process is falling giving me an error script error number number -1728 from document 1 of document 1. I tried to put as many --comments on the scriptI want to clarify my knowlege in AS is basic. What is this error? I search specifically for this error number with no success. What I have was pieced together and modified from 2 scripts I found. I'm challenging myself with not too much success but If I don't to ask, I don't learn. Can you anyone guide me to a solution?property file_types : {"EPSf", "EPSP"}property file_extensions : {"eps"}--Would like just Illustrator eps files not Photoshop eps. Applescript error number -1728 when trying to specify a project name for a new task Thread Tools Search this Thread Display Modes benlanghals Member 2011-12-27, 02:20 PM benlanghals View Public Profile Send a private message to benlanghals Find all posts by benlanghals I'm writing some applescript to create new tasks and assign them to projects. I want the user to be able to select which project to assign the task to by selecting the project out of a list. The list appears and it returns a project name like I would expect it to, but it doesn't seem to be a valid project name. I'm getting an error similar to the following when I try to run my script error "OmniFocus got an error: Can’t get project \"Example Project\" of document id \"e4Z5K4sRLLL\"." number -1728 from project "Example Project" of document id "e4Z5K4sRLLL" This is the code I am trying Code: set oDoc to default document tell oDoc set projNames to (name of (flattened projects of oDoc where hidden of its folder is false and its status is active)) set selectedProject to choose from list projNames with prompt "Choose project from the list." without multiple selections allowed set strProject to first item of selectedProject set theProject to project strProject set assigned container of newTask to theProject end tell The problem could be related to the structure of my data. The project "Example Project" is not a project at root level of the Library. It is in a folder. I think "flattened projects" is the wrong way to get the list of projects for what I am trying to do. I think I might need something that returns the folder name as well, but I didn't see anything in the applescript library like that. I'm new to AppleScript and this forum, so any pointers toward examples or other documentation are also appreciated.
