Error Processing Certificate Created By Domino
Error processing certificate created by; domino server; http; start; start http task; server log; log.nsf; webadmin; web server; agents; server id Technote (troubleshooting) Problem When you attempt to start the HTTP task on the Domino server, you receive the following error: "Error processing certificate created by /OU/O for ServerName/OU/O: The subject's public key found in the certificate is not the one stored in our ID file for that entity". Where "/OU/O" is the certifier of the server's ID and "ServerName/OU/O" is the server name. Cause The error is caused by the HTTP task reading agents in the webadmin.nsf that were created when the new server was started for the first time with the newly created server ID. When the webadmin.nsf is created, the agents are signed with the server ID being used. Since the agents were signed with the newly created ID, and not the one that was copied from the original server, the error is generated. Diagnosing the problem In one case, a customer was migrating their environment to a new machine using the following process: Install and set up a server with the same organization, organizational unit and name. Start and shutdown the new server. Copy the server ID, names.nsf, and other configuration databases (events4.nsf, catalog.nsf) from the old machine. Discard the newly created IDs and configuration databases. Restart the server. When the server is restarted and the HTTP task is loaded, the error is displayed in the log. However, the server seems to be functional. Resolving the problem To resolve this issue: Shutdown the server and delete the webadmin.nsf so that the HTTP task will recreate it with the server ID from the original machine. or Copy the webadmin.nsf from the original machine. Posted on 2010-05-21 Lotus IBM 1 Verified Solution 18 Comments 5,527 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-18 Greeting experts, I had registered and installed a new additional Domino server R8.0.2. My Notes client is also R8.0.2. When I try to access the new server from my Notes client I get the error "Server Error: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details." However when I go to my client log file I do not see any details. When I checked on the new server log I found this: "05/22/2010 01:38:45 AM Joe User/Any Town/SomeCompany from host [9.65.100.17:1497] failed to authenticate: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details." The other servers can see this new server and the new server can see the other servers in the domain. I have been pulling my hair out trying to implement a solution based on the research that I had done. Among others: removing the cross certificates from my local address book; getting a previous copy of my notes ID; copying the new server certificate to my local address book. I am at a loss. I even tried creating a new copy of my local address book to get rid of any hidden corruption. It did not help. It sounds like it's me. The strange thing is I can still access the other servers in the domain. Would someone let me know where else I need to go look to resolve this issue? Will I need to start all over with a new blank address book? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. 0 Question by:notesrookie Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 46 Active today Best Solution bySjef Bosman The address book should have been copi
