the Certificate Was Found to be Invalid" "Error processing certificate created by John Doe/ACME for /ACME_SERVER : The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Do you want to access the server anyway?" Technote (troubleshooting) Problem When a user tries to log into the Notes client, the user encounters the message: Error processing certificate created by John Doe/ACME for /ACME_SERVER : The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Do you want to access the server anyway? Symptom When the user clicks Yes, she can access the server, but when trying to replicate from server to local, replication fails with the error: Error processing certificate created by John Doe/ACME for /ACME_SERVER : The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Resolving the problem The Personal Address Book, or "PNAB" (file name is names.nsf) on the local workstation contains a number of Notes certificates and one or more of those certificates may be corrupted. Due to the potentially large number of certificates existing, the best solution is to create a new Personal Address book. To do this: Click File -> Database (Application) -> New Database (Application) Select the options to create a new database that is named "names.nsf" and is based on the design template named pernames.ntf. Use care to save this new database outside of the data directory used by your installation of Lotus Notes. (That is, place this new database in a temporary folder such as C:\temp). Shut down Lotus Notes. Replace the old names.nsf file located in the data folder used by your installation of Notes with the file created in step 1 and located at C:\temp. Keep the old names.nsf file safe. Do NOT delete. Launch the Notes client, and the messages no longer appear. To keep all your old personal contacts stored in the old Personal Address Book, copy and paste documents from the old names.nsf to the new one using a Notes client. This morning when I tried to access our servers, I received the error message: Error processing certificate created by /OurOrg for Steve Davis/OurOrg: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd85forum.nsf/0/a6944a0c4a286c04852575ba007c6989?OpenDocument log file for details. I could not access any servers. After a couple of hours of trying different things, I had our other administrator recertify my ID file. After he did so, I was able to access the servers, but continually receive this error message (10 to 20 times in a row) when opening a database or a document: Error processing certificate created by /OurOrg for /OurOrg: The subject's public key found in the certificate is not the one stored in our ID file for that entity. Failed to authenticate with server ewMail/OurOrg: The subject's public key found in the certificate is not the one stored in our ID file for that entity. Check the local log file for details. Other clues: When the other administrator tries to open any document signed by our mail server, he gets an ECL prompt saying that the document is not signed and does he trust it. When I tried to resign design elements using the server.id, it fails: Title: Administration Requests (

Posted on 2010-05-21 Lotus IBM 1 Verified Solution 18 Comments 5,527 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-18 Greeting experts, I had registered and installed a new additional Domino server R8.0.2. My Notes client is also R8.0.2. When I try to access the new error processing certificate server from my Notes client I get the error "Server Error: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details." However when I go to my client log file I do not see any details. When I checked on the new server log I found this: "05/22/2010 01:38:45 AM Joe User/Any Town/SomeCompany from host [9.65.100.17:1497] failed to authenticate: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details." The other servers can see this new server and the new server can see the other servers in the domain. I have been pulling my hair out trying to implement a solution based on the research that I had done. Among others: removing the cross certificates from my local address book; getting a previous copy of my notes ID; copying the new server certificate to my local address book. I am at a loss. I even tried creating a new copy of my local address book to get rid of any hidden corruption. It did
