Please help this newbie in Programming Questions • 19 days ago Hi, I'm having problems with some basic code. It is to take a screenshot image and display it. The underlying image (screen.png) will be https://forum.processing.org/topic/out-of-memory-error-please-help-this-newbie updated every minute or so, and I want it to be displayed using processing. Only problem is my code causes out of memory errors. Here is my code: PImage gatewayImage; PImage screenImage; PImage fingerImage; void setup() { size(1440, 960); https://forum.processing.org/one/topic/fatal-java-error.html frame.setLocation(0, 0); frameRate(30); smooth(); background(0); // Images must be in the "data" directory to load correctly gatewayImage = loadImage("gateway.png"); } void draw() { background(255); screenImage = loadImage("screen.png"); image(gatewayImage, 0, -35, 1130*0.85, 1839*0.85); error processing image(screenImage, 155, 141, 640, 480); } Can you please point me in the right direction. I think this code used to work a long time ago. I have tried upping the available memory to 256MB. Thanks in Advance, Jon 1 Replies(7) GoToLoop Re: Out of Memory Error. Please help this newbie 18 days ago Why do you load "screen.png" within draw()? Be aware that draw() is invoked @ 60 FPS by default! 30 FPS in your case. Leave a comment error processing image on GoToLoop's reply PhiLho Re: Out of Memory Error. Please help this newbie 18 days ago 1. GoToLoop is right, and this can be the source of your trouble. 2. What version of Processing do you use? j.rodgers Re: Re: Out of Memory Error. Please help this newbie 18 days ago Thanks PhiLho, Thanks for suggesting I look at the version of processing I was using. I just upgraded to processing 2.0.3 (from 2.0b8) and this has fixed my issue so that there are no problems at all. My initial reasoning that this code should work was that : PImage screenImage; was defined as a global variable, and so each time I used: screenImage = loadImage("screen.png"); the new image would be loaded into the screenImage variable memory space, not take new memory! Anyway, I do concede to the point that doing it 30 fps is wild excessive, thanks tfguy44 for your code to reduce the loading rate, I only need once or twice a second. I wanted to check before implementing something like this though that the underlying problem was solved - so I was not just increasing the time it would run for. Thanks again, Jon Leave a comment on PhiLho's reply j.rodgers Re: Out of Memory Error. Please help this newbie 18 days ago I'm using processing version 2.0b8. I load it within draw as screen.jpg will be updated every few seconds while this is running, and I nee
