You will find additional information about various IMG formats in Wikipedia or in FILExt's File Extension IMG page. If you attempt to open an IMG file with 7zip WinZip and it is not in the expected format, WinZip will display an error. In such a case, you should consult the person or company from whom you obtained the file in order to determine the correct application that should be used. The supported ISO file systems in WinZip include ISO 9660 and UDF from 1.02 to 2.6 (subset

download GB Discoverer 1:50 on an SD card 4GB in my Dakota 20. Says download complete but I can only find file folders and no map. What am I doing wrong Heeelp! kganshirt03-22-2010, 03:43 PMAre you using Mapsource to transfer the map to the SD card? If you are using Mapsource, you should see a \GARMIN folder on the SD card. There should be a large file named GMAPSUPP.IMG in that folder. Is the SD card in a card reader on your PC or in the Dakota when you transfer? ...ken... VANDRING03-22-2010, 04:59 PMHi again... Downloading from Garmins site to SD card in my Dakota. Might need your thoughts again so c u later /Patrik kganshirt03-23-2010, 02:00 PMIf it refuses to download to the computer without connecting the Dakota, remove the SD card from the Dakota before connecting to the computer. That might force it to the computer https://forums.garmin.com/archive/index.php/t-6982.html if the SD card is not there. ...ken... VANDRING03-23-2010, 03:23 PMNope, does not work. When connecting to the computer going in to "My Computer" I can see that the file is on the card but as a win zip. Is this common? I am totally new into hand held GPS:s so here is one "stupid question" Is it only possible to view the map if I am acctually at the location? I am in Luxembourg and bought a UK map. Could this be the reason I cannot find the map on the Dakota? I loaded on to a SDHC 4GB (enough) assuming it doesn´t matter which SD card I use kganshirt03-23-2010, 09:25 PMYou are also a computer novice, yes? First you need to open the .ZIP file. Double-click on it and tell us what files (and folders, if any) are in it. Include the full filenames and types (e.g. gmapsupp.img, etc.). Then we can tell you what you need to do next because it depends on what files you have received. You may have a file you can load straight onto your GPS. Or you may have a file that requires installation on your PC and then you would use Mapsource to load the maps onto your device. ...ken... VANDRING03-24-2010, 01:29 AMwouldn´t put it that way. I am pretty handy using applications etc etc but when it comes to "what´s behind" then I´m pretty lost....:o The thing is that that the win zip cannot be unlocked. Looks like this stupid map from Garmin can ONLY be worked and viewe

OSM doesn't make ISO images available, so either you downloaded the file from somewhere else (and would have to ask them why the file is broken), or maybe your system thinks that the file is error processing an ISO image when in fact it isn't. What operating system do you have, and how do you try to "unzip or open"? (25 Apr '11, 20:41) Frederik Ramm ♦ I downloaded from osmmaps.com. I have windows xp and when I try to open with win zip I get the error mesage. I attached my garmin nuvi 200 to my computer error processing iso and drag and dropped the file into a folder on my garmin's sd card but still not getting maps. (26 Apr '11, 11:43) tdfam2 1 I've just downloaded the Central America map from there, copied it to a "Garmin" folder on the micro-sd card on my Nuvi 265w, searched for "Belize" (via Where To / Cities / Spell) and got a map of Belize City. The mapping's a bit incomplete, but that's because the data isn't in OSM yet. You shouldn't do this. Double-clicking tells your computer to "find the program that will understand .img files, and open this with it". But this .img file is not meant for a program on your computer. It's meant for your Garmin GPS unit. Assuming you have an SD card installed in the card socket for your Garmin, simply do this: Connect your Garmin to your computer via a USB cable. Put
