This documentation is archived and is not being maintained. WER Settings Windows Error Reporting (WER) provides many settings to customize the problem reporting experience. All of these settings can be set using Group Policy. Some can also be changed in Action Center for Windows 7, Windows 8, or Problem Reports and Solutions for Windows Vista. WER settings are located in one of the following registry subkeys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting WER settings BypassDataThrottling REG_DWORD Possible values: 0 - Disable data bypass throttling. If the bypass is disabled or not configured as a policy setting, WER throttles data by default. WER does not upload more than one C

Collecting User-Mode Dumps Starting with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows Error Reporting (WER) can be configured so that full user-mode dumps are collected and stored locally after a user-mode application crashes. Applications that do their own custom crash reporting, including .NET applications, are not supported by this feature. This feature is not enabled by default. Enabling the feature requires administrator privileges. To enable and configure the feature, use the following registry values under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps key. Error Reporting Registry Settings (Windows CE 5.0) Windows CE 5.0 Send Feedback Developers and administrators can control a variety of error reporting settings through the registry. The HKEY_Local_Machine\System\ErrorReporting\DumpSettings registry key enables the values used by the Error Report Control Panel and values for error report generation. The following table shows the named values. Value: typeDescription HideCPL: DWORDSmartphone only. Shows Error Reporting Control Panel. Default is 0 (Control Panel visible). Set to 1 to hide the Control Panel CabDirectory: REG_SZLocation of the directory that holds compressed files for error report. Default is \Windows\DumpFiles\CabFiles. DumpDirectory: REG_SZIndicates the location of the directory that holds error report files. Default is \Windows\DumpFiles. DumpEnabled: REG_DWORDEnables crash data collection.
