Occasionally the .exe it is running fails and this causes a crash report dialog to open (WerFault.exe). This causes all the other jobs on the queue to wait until someone clicks the button on the popup. I've messed with the settings in Control Panel > Problem Reports and Solutions, but the best I can get is a popup with no options. I've also turned off error reporting service the "Windows Error Reporting" service. How do I disable WerFault.exe? windows-server-2008 job-control share|improve this question edited Oct 19 '11 at 16:33 Jonas Heidelberg 7521514 asked Aug 18 '11 at 11:54 Sindri Traustason 6318 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted +50 Since you say you've already "turned off the 'Windows Error Reporting' service", I'll propose going all the way in the other direction, i.e. letting it send all data without bothering you. Have you seen this MS Technet document mentioning the "Send all data" setting for Windows Error Reporting? From what I understand it is the only one not requiring a pop-up. However, you can't set it using the Control Panel, you have to use gpedit.msc. go to Start/Run..., type gpedit.msc to open the Local Group Policy Editor go to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Error Reporting\Consent enable Configure Default Consent and set it to Send all data. verify that Customize consent settings enabled itself at the same time; if not Enable it now. Unfortunately I can't try this here - I currently don't have a reliable way to crash a Windows program on my current machine without dragging out a compiler ;-). If all else fails... Have you considered replacing WerFault.exe with an .exe that does nothing, for example true.exe from cygwin? Of course that would be a mayor step, but you could try as a last resort. share|improve thi

How to completely disable it? I've tried turning off error reporting for all users but that doesn't change a thing. windows-server-2008 share|improve this question asked Dec 30 '11 at 12:22 Tomas 2652514 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted I have found how completely disable WerFault.exe (Windows Error Reporting). These registry keys should be added [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting] "Disabled"=dword:00000001 "DontShowUI"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting] "Disabled"=dword:00000001 "DontShowUI"=dword:00000001 I am also attaching fully working registry file http://www.filejumbo.com/Download/B6A1CD7B9A221BB8 I would like to add many instructions which I found on Internet about disabling WerFault didn't worked in my situation, these include: Disabling "Windows Error Reporting Service" Editing "Windows Error Reporting" Policies in Local Group Policy Editor Disabling ""Windows Error Reporting" from control panel. share|improve this answer answered Jan 11 '12 at 15:42 Tomas 2652514 add a comment| up vote 2 down vote This Microsoft article shows you go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting and add a DWORD key called DontShowUI with a value of 1. share|improve this answer edited Dec 31 '11 at 6:29 Mark Henderson♦ 51.3k21136211 answered Dec 31 '11 at 6:20 SpellingD 1283 I still get Windows Error Reporting dialog with one close button. In my Windows Server 2008 registry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting I have such keys DontShowUI = 1 and Disabled = 1 (and several others). –Tomas Jan 4 '12 at 7:17 Agreed - this reg key only turns off the UI for the error reporting, not the UI for a
