While in safe mode, I have disabled the Microsoft Error Reporting application (MERP 2.2.9) by using the Preferences pane. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word-mso_mac/how-do-i-disable-error-reporting-in-office-for-mac/7b6ab588-f042-4316-853b-e00a0aeccba2 (This application is located at /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0.) I am running on a mid-2011 iMac.I am at an utter standstill for routine office productivity. Any insight on MERP and how to disable or fix it would be appreciated. Thank you. iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), Office for Mac 2016 Posted on Apr 9, 2016 10:29 AM I have this question too by jdl-maryland,Solvedanswer jdl-maryland Level 1 (4 points) Mac OS https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7526794?tstart=0 X A: For others who might encounter a similar error: The solution was a clean install. Also, please note that the error and the messages began to occur with applications in addition to those in the MS Office suite. Which is to say, it was an OS X problem of some sort. Which is to say further, it should not be reflex in this community to shoo away seekers of help upon their mention of troubles with a Microsoft product. next time I restarted my computer my Trash would contain at least one 0K temporary junk Microsoft file—usually http://www.jonseff.net/2014/07/22/tip-stop-office-for-mac-from-adding-junk-to-your-trash/ MerpAD Office 365. When I finally decided to investigate a possible fix, I came across a lot of nonsense. But then I found something in a Microsoft community forum that http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Utilities/Microsoft-Error-Reporting.shtml I figured I’d try. Low and behold, it worked. Disabling Office's error reporting means no more junk in your trash. The solution is to disable Office’s error reporting—which, naturally, error reporting is buried deep and completely unintuitive. To do so, go to /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0, open the Microsoft Error Reporting app, open its preferences, and then deselect Enable Microsoft Error Reporting. From then on, you shouldn’t be bothered by this unnecessary Microsoft cruft. Do yourself a favour and fix it in 5 mins using this. Thank you very much! Saved me a whole lot of time. Sandy on March 2, 2015 Found it, but it won't let me do anything to change it. What I get is a picture of the app, but no where giving an option to disable reporting. Any suggestions??
