Information event with Windows Error Reporting under the Source column and event ID 1001, with all the data gathered in the details. On support calls, the piece of data that's most important to me is the Fault bucket that's reported. I'll usually refer to it as the bucket ID. Problem Reports and Solutions (new in Vista) A new feature in Windows Vista is Problem Reports and Solutions in the Control Panel under the System and Maintenance category (if you don't have Classic View turned on). This will contain all the crash and hang events that occurred on a computer along with settings to configure reporting to Microsoft. To open Problem Reports and Solution in Windows Vista (not in previous versions of Windows: 1. Open Problem Reports and Solutions by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Problem Reports and Solutions. 2. In the left pane, click View problem history. 3. To view problems by product, date, problem type, or solution status, click the column name. Bucket ID is the same as the Fault bucket in the application log event. I prefer using Problem Reports and Solutions versus Application Log to get crash details. About WER Windows Error Reporting (WER) is a flexible event-based feedback infrastructure designed to gather information about the hardware and software problems that Windows can detect, report the information to Microsoft, and provide users with any available solutions. For information about the improvement
reporting technology introduced by Microsoft with WindowsXP[1] and included in later Windows versions and Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0. Not to be https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Error_Reporting confused with the Dr. Watson debugging tool which left the memory dump on the user's local machine, Windows Error Reporting collects and offers to send post-error debug http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html information (a memory dump) using the Internet to the Microsoft or stops responding on a user's desktop. No data is sent without the user's consent.[2] When a error reporting dump (or other error signature information) reaches the Microsoft server, it is analyzed and a solution is sent back to the user when one is available. Solutions are served using Windows Error Reporting Responses. Windows Error Reporting runs as a Windows service and can optionally be entirely disabled. If Windows Error Reporting itself crashes, windows error reporting then an error report that the original crashed process produced cannot be sent at all. Kinshuman is the original designer of Windows Error Reporting in Vista which is the same design and implementation that is present in current Windows versions. Most importantly a new set of public APIs have been created for reporting failures other than application crashes and hangs.[4] Developers can create custom reports and customize the reporting user interface. The new APIs are documented in MSDN. The architecture of Windows Error Reporting has been revamped with a focus on reliability and user expe
AppCrashView v1.25 - View application crashes (.wer files) Copyright (c) 2009 - 2015 Nir Sofer Related Utilities BlueScreenView - View the Blue screen of death (STOP error) information stored in dump files. WhatIsHang - Get information about Windows software that stopped responding (hang) NK2Edit - Edit, merge and fix the AutoComplete files (.NK2) of Microsoft Outlook. Description AppCrashView is a small utility for Windows Vista and Windows 7 that displays the details of all application crashes occurred in your system. The crashes information is extracted from the .wer files created by the Windows Error Reporting (WER) component of the operating system every time that a crash is occurred. AppCrashView also allows you to easily save the crashes list to text/csv/html/xml file. System Requirements For now, this utility only works on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows 8, and Windows 10. simply because the earlier versions of Windows don't save the crash information into .wer files. It's possible that in future versions, I'll also add support for Windows XP/2000/2003 by using Dr. Watson (Drwtsn32.exe) or other debug component that capture the crash information. Versions History Version 1.25 Added option to delete the selected reports. Version 1.21 Fixed to display date/time values according to daylight saving time settings. Version 1.20 Added 'Open Report File Folder' option. Added 'Open Process Folder' option. Version 1.15 Added /ReportsFolder command-line option, which allows you to specify the exact reports folder you want to load, for example: AppCrashView.exe /ReportsFolder "c:\temp\wer" Version 1.12 Fixed bug: The crash items located under 'All Users' profile displayed twice. Added 'Auto Size Columns+Headers' option. Version 1.11 Added 'Mark Odd/Even Rows' option, under the View menu. When it's turned on, the odd and even rows are displayed in different color, to make it easier to read a single line. Version 1.10 Added 'Add Header Line To CSV/Tab-Delimited File' option. When this option is turned on, the column names are added as the first line when you export to csv or tab-delimited file. Version 1.07 Fixed issue: removed the encoding from the xml string, which caused problems to some xml viewers. Version 1.06 Added /ShowReportQueue and /ShowReportArchive command-line options Version 1.05 Added more WER folders. Added 'Show ReportArchive Files' and 'Show ReportQueue Files' options. 'Show ReportQueue Files' option is turned off by default, because the ReportQueue folder doesn't contain cra
