If you're using XAMPP just select php display errors off "restart" in the manager app. –Mateusz Stawecki Apr 9 '15 at 13:54 1 I suggest running grep display_errors /path/to/php.ini to see if your line is getting overrided somewhere down the file. This is what was happening to me. –usandfriends Aug 21 '15 at 18:02 add a comment| 11 Answers 11 active oldest votes up vote 47 down vote accepted You can set display_errors to 0 or use the error_reporting() function. However, notices are annoying (I can partly sympathize) but they serve a purpose. You shouldn't be defining a constant twice, the second time won't work and the constant will remain unchanged! share|improve this answer answered May 19 '10 at 15:43 Pekka ์ 304k93700914 2 +1: I approve of mentioning that he should correct the errors, not turn off the reporting. And you did it in a gentler way than @Jonathan Kuhn :-) –Josh May 19 '10 at 16:06 1 No,seems this is a bug of php5.3,display_errors doesn't work as expected. –user198729 May 20 '10 at 11:17 @user can you show the php.ini entry please? –Pekka ์ May 20 '10 at 11:19 display_errors = Off is already there. –user198729 May 20 '10 at 11:34 1 @user I think the local value can come from ini_set directives or php_ini_flag settings in .htaccess files. –Pekka ์ May 20 '10 at 11:53 | show 9 more comments u

via php.ini and PHP source code PHP Notices are common to occur after PHP version upgrades or where an obsolete PHP code is moved from Old version PHP to new version. This http://www.pc-freak.net/blog/turn-php-notices/ is common error in web software using Frameworks which have been abandoned by developers. https://aristath.github.io/blog/wp-hide-php-errors Having PHP Notices to appear on a webpage is pretty ugly and give a lot of information which might be used by malicious crackers to try to break your site thus it is always a good idea to disable PHP Notices. There are plenty of ways to disable PHP Notices The easiest way to disable it is globally error reporting in all Webserver PHP library via php.ini (/etc/php.ini) open it and make sure display_errors is disabled: display_errors = 0 or display_errors = Off Note that that some claim in PHP 5.3 setting display_errors to Off will not work as expected. Anyways to make sure where your loaded PHP Version display_errors is ON or OFF use phpinfo(); It is also possible to disable PHP Notices and error reporting straight from PHP code you need off notice error code like: or through code: ini_set('display_errors',0); PHP has different levels of error reporting, here is complete list of possible error handling variables: The level of logging could be tuned on Debian Linux via /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini or if necessary to set PHP log level in PHP CLI through /etc/php5/cli/php.ini with: error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE If you need to remove to remove exact warning or notices from PHP without changing the way PHPLib behaves is to set @ infront of variable or function that is causing NOTICES or WARNING: For example: @yourFunctionHere(); @var = …; Its also possible to Disable PHP Notices and Warnings using .htaccess file (useful in shared hosting where you don't have access to global php.ini), here is how: # PHP error handl
plugin/theme developer should know about these so that they may fix them in a future release). PHP warnings and notices are nothing to worry about on a production site most of the time. Some of these can even be generated because the developer has to keep compatibility with older versions of WordPress as well as older PHP versions. The solution: If you simply set WP_DEBUG to false in your wp-config.php file you should be fine. These donโt affect your site in any way. However, the problem is that some times the above does not work. That can happen most times on cheap shared hosts that force displaying PHP warnings and notices. In that case, you can replace this line from your wp-config.php file: define('WP_DEBUG', false); with this: ini_set('log_errors','On'); ini_set('display_errors','Off'); ini_set('error_reporting', E_ALL ); define('WP_DEBUG', false); define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true); define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false); I hope that helps someone out there! twitter Written by Blog Logo Aristeides Stathopoulos Published 03 Oct 2014 Supported by Proudly published with Jekyll You should subscribe to my feed.
