I'm guessing Gary has been M.I.A. for a long time now? Are we on our own? We have to stick together! All we have is each other, now!! LOL Anyway, here's my problem. I just got a new computer (Gateway laptop - Windows VISTA). My old computer died, so no backup. But, the good news is, I had all my shows on an external hard drive. SO, I just installed DVA 3.2 on my new Vista laptop. Needless to say, I'm having problems. First off, everything DOES work.. I can see my archived shows on my external hard drive. DVA is talking to my Replay unit just fine, etc. But, DVA is having trouble with the .XML files, and giving me a boat-load of error messages after DVA runs for a few minutes. Here are my most common errors.. 1. "Error saving DVArchive Store (DVArchive.xml) - Store MAY be corrupt" 2. SERIOUS ERROR! Unable to rename old store "C:\Users\DVArchive.xml" to backup "C:\Users\DVArchive.xml~" Please be sure directory file can be read/written to... I can load up a save just fine, but I run in error saving dvarchive to the problem as soon as I move to a new area. Naturally it asks me to pick a save device (probably left over from consoles?), which fails, and I'm forced to continue without saving anymore. Anyone else have this problem? The only way you could hit this issue is if for some reason the save file can't be written to. You can try checking out the save file located here:C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Housemarque\Outland\SAVEGAME.DATIf you're not able to fix this by ensuring the Read Only checkbox on the file is unchecked please email your SAVEGAME.DAT and log.txt to rockemsockem@knockoutgames.co . Thanks. #1 Auburok View Profile View Posts 3 Oct, 2014 @ 4:03pm I figured it out. I tend to back up saves and I had left the "copy" (though it was named the same -"savegame.dat") in the folder. So I went back, removed the copy, moved the original back and it started to work again. Is there any reason this behavior would occur from copying a save and using it? #2 KnockoutGames View Profile
recently been searching for a replacement for my prior AV product (norton) and have "test-drove" several highly rated products in the last few weeks. So far my favorite application is definitely KAV/KIS but I have been experiencing two specific conflicts with a long used application on my PC.The application is a JAVA based program called DVarchive, it is used as a "file server" for the ReplayTV DVR product. Basically it allows me to control scheduling and "archive" recorded programs from my individual DVR's to my PC (which has greater storage capacity). Also it allows me to "serve" the other DVR's the shows at anytime by streaming the MPEG back to it.The issue I am having appears to be two fold, and though I have found a "work-around" I was hoping someone else might be able to confirm if my solution is best, or if there is a more "secure" alternative.File AV - appears to be "locking" the .XML files that DVarchive uses to store users prefs and TVguide data during it's hourly back-up routine. This causes hourly errors about "DVA not being able to create *.BAK from *.XML - access denied". This of course exposes me to data loss if my PC were to crash as the files used to restore it would be "out of date". I should metnion, that this issue does not occur during every back-up, but it does during most. The work-around I have come up with is to add the directories that DVarchive uses to store it's files to the "trusted zone" in KAV/KIS. Is this the best option?WEB AV - appears to be causing failures with downloads from the individual DVR's to the DVarchive storage on my PC. Everything work's fine until you reach a file size of 2GB or more, at which point DVarchive reports that the transfer has failed due to the fact that the "DVR has failed to respond - connection timed out". Again, if the file is smaller than 2GB it works like a champ. If I disable WEB A/V and/or specifically HTTP scanning the transfers complete regardless of file size. I have tried changing the scan method, excluding the ip's and ports that the devices use, but it doesn't solve the issue. The DVR's communicate with the application via HTTP protoco
