Error saving web page. The probable cause is that the web page contains a link to a style sheet, which resides on a different server than that where the page is located. Due to a recent security update (MS02-023 Patch or later), Microsoft Internet Explorer blocks access to the style sheet code if the code is on a different domain/server. Microsoft has confirmed that this is a Microsoft product issue. To avoid the error message, please follow these instructions: When you choose Save As from your browser's menu, change the Save As Type from Web page, complete to Web Page, HTML only. The long version: I've got a website where some dynamically-generated pages have a "save this page" link at the top. Clicking the link will launch a error saving web bare-bones version of the page content (stripping out header and footer, etc) in a smaller pop-up using javascript's window.open(). The popped-up page has menubar=1, so that the user can use File > Save As... and save the page. (This is a pretty clumsy way to implement saving, but I couldn't find any nicer solutions with sufficiently wide browser compatibility.) This works fine in every version of Chrome or Firefox I've tested, and in IE9, IE10, and either of those browsers in compatibility mode for 7 or 8. But users who actually have IE8 are seeing this behavior: On normal, pretty-styled webpage, click "save this page" link On bare-bones popup, go to File > Save As... In the Save dialog, select a location and click Save Observe save progress bar get up to somewhere beyond 50%, then disappear to be replaced with an error message, the title of which is "Error Saving Webpage" and the full text of which is "This webpage could not be saved." This happens when saving as "Webpage, complete" or as "Web Archive, single file". The page does save when using "Webpage, HTML only", but I don't expect that our users are going to

Windows 7: Cannot Save Web page (IE10) only this Win 7 machine 15 Apr 2014 #1 p23185 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 29 posts Cannot Save Web page (IE10) only this Win 7 machine On only this Win 7 Ultimate, 64bit machine I cannot save a webpage in any of the three options - webpage complete, Web Archive (Mht), or Web page HTML only. The saves work fine when saving to my C: drive but I save all my personal data on an NAS. When saving to the NAS from this particular machine it shows the progress bar as though it is saving, then flashes up the "This Web Page Could not be saved". The page is there and usually will open but not always and sometimes opening the page takes forever. I suspect something in the firewall is not set right and I need help on what to look for. When I go into the firewall for the private network I see pages and pages of rules. What rule should I look for specifically to allow web pages to be saved to my private networked NAS? Would it be an incoming or outgoing rule or would both be affected? My wife has another Win 7 (home premium) which saves web pages to the NAS ok, and I have a Win 8.1 netbook that has no problems saving web pages using IE10. Any ideas?
