I presume there is an error in how I've written the bibliography (.bib) file. Is there a sort of debugger which indicates what is actually the error? bibtex kile share|improve this

I get a "[BibTeX] finished with exit code 2" message when I compile in Kile. Yet, all seems to be ok in my bibliography. DistroUbuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron Re: Bibtex Issues Bibtex can be quite a hassle, because you first need to compile the tex. Bibtex will then use the aux-file and the bib-file you specified in the tex to make a bbl-file. THEN when you compile the tex-file again, the latex-compiler will use the bbl file to set up the citations. Ich nutze Kile auf Windows mit dem natbib-Package und dem Stil dinat für das Literaturverzeichnis. Für die .bib-Datei hab ich JabRef genutzt. Bei den bisherigen Quellen gab es damit überhaupt keine Probleme. Heute wollte ich einen neuen Verweis hinzufügen auf ein Item, das schon lange in der .bib steht (also daran nix geändert). PDFLaTeX sagte mir aber immer, dass er die Referenz nicht finden kann. Genauso ist es bei einem neuen Verweis auf eine Quelle, die ich an anderer Stelle in der Arbeit schon verwende.
